PT IMIP and FTUI Host IMIP Lecture Series to Strengthen Academic-Industry Synergy

On Wednesday (June 12), the CDC FTUI held the IMIP Lecture Series in conjunction with a Socialization and Hiring event with PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP). PT IMIP is an industrial area based on nickel processing with the longest industrial chain in the world, and its main products include nickel, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The event, held in the Smart Meeting Room, FTUI Dean Building, was attended by several important figures, including the Assistant Deputy for Strategic Investment at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs & Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Bimo Wijayanto, Ph.D., and the Head of HR at PT IMIP, Achmanto Mendatu.

“Here at UI, we have three recruitment programs. The first is for recruiting interns, the second is for bachelor’s degree scholarships, and the third is for scholarships to China. Thank you very much for your willingness to receive us. We hope this event is beneficial and further strengthens our cooperation,” said Achmanto Mendatu, Head of HR at PT IMIP, opening the event.

Novia Fitriyati, S.P., M.T., Coordinator of Planning and Analysis as the Assistant Deputy for Strategic Investment and Deputy for Investment and Mining Coordination, presented material related to the downstream processing of the metal and mineral industry in the next session. According to her, Indonesia is rich in “energy transition mineral” reserves, with high renewable energy potential. This is because Indonesia has the world’s largest nickel reserves, the second-largest zinc reserves, the sixth-largest bauxite reserves, and the seventh-largest copper reserves.

In the following session, Dr.-Ing. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni FTUI, also gave his remarks, “This event is a tangible form of collaboration between PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) and the Career Development Center of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. This activity aims to strengthen the relationship between the academic and industrial worlds. The IMIP Lecture Series is designed to provide in-depth insights into downstream programs in Indonesia and share success stories about the Industrial Chain in the IMIP Area. Through general lecture sessions delivered by experts and industry practitioners, participants are expected to gain valuable knowledge and inspiration to work in the downstream industry sector.”

In the final session, representatives from PT IMIP gave a general lecture titled “Building Indonesian Talents in the Mineral-Metal Downstream Industry Sector in Indonesia.” The IMIP Lecture Series aims to strengthen the relationship between the academic and industrial worlds, provide in-depth insights into downstream programs in Indonesia, and share success stories about the industrial chain in the IMIP Area. Through this general lecture session, participants are expected to gain knowledge and inspiration to work in the downstream industry sector.

On another occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., Dean of FTUI, also shared his thoughts, “We believe that these programs will provide great opportunities for FTUI students and graduates to develop their careers and contribute to national industrial development.
