Engineering Cheers 2024: Weaving Memories, Embracing Change

The Alumni Association (ILUNI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held its annual grand reunion titled “Engineering Cheers” at the Rotunda FTUI. The event, attended by hundreds of alumni, embraced the theme “Weaving Memories, Embracing Change,” inviting alumni to return to campus and strengthen the bonds of camaraderie developed over the years.

In his speech, the Acting Dean of FTUI, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that Engineering Cheers is not just a reunion event but also a celebration of the achievements and journeys shared. “This event is also an opportunity to appreciate the extraordinary contributions that alumni have made to the world and the Faculty of Engineering. I encourage every alumni present to make the most of this homecoming day. Reconnect with old friends, and share interesting stories among us. Through this interaction, we can strengthen the relationship among alumni,” said Prof. Mahmud.

The event continued with the presentation of memorabilia, including varsity jackets, to the outgoing Chair of ILUNI FTUI and the Chairs of Departmental ILUNIs. Following this, the event featured the handover of scholarships from the Mata Air Biru Foundation (MAB), an organization established by FTUI alumni committed to supporting talented young people with financial constraints to continue their education.

The main highlight of the event was the handover of leadership for ILUNI FTUI and the departmental ILUNIs for the 2024-2027 term. Farrizky Astrawinata, an Architecture ’99 alumnus, was officially inaugurated as the new Chair of ILUNI FTUI. The newly inaugurated Departmental ILUNI Chairs included Rizki Hadi Putra (Civil Engineering ’09), Agus Taufiq (Mechanical Engineering ’09), Raja Tinjo (Electrical Engineering ’06), Ahmad Risnandar (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering ’01), Ardes Perdhana (Architecture ’00), Johanes Anton Witono (Chemical Engineering ’99), and Bahrun Ardiansyah (Industrial Engineering ’01).

In his address, Farrizky emphasized the importance of alumni support. “ILUNI activities would be meaningless without the presence of alumni. ILUNI FTUI, the departmental ILUNIs, and the communities within FTUI are one unity. Let us continue to strengthen these bonds for a better future,” he said.

Engineering Cheers 2024 was enlivened by various exciting performances, including Dancing Engineer, Enigma UI, and After Drop Band. Additionally, the event featured a flash mob, game sessions, and attractive door prizes, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The successful hosting of Engineering Cheers 2024, became not just a nostalgic event but also a moment to embrace change and a brighter future for all FTUI alumni.
