FTUI and PT ABB Sakti Industri Hold Seminar on How to Start Your Career Journey

On Wednesday (4/09), the Career Development Center FTUI (CDC FTUI) collaborated with PT ABB Sakti Industri to organize a seminar titled “How To Start Your Career Journey” at the Smart Meeting Room, Dean’s Building, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. This event was part of the series of activities for ECIF 2024.

The event began with a presentation by Harina Wulansari, HR Business Partner at PT ABB Sakti Industri. In her presentation, Harina introduced the history of PT ABB Sakti Industri, including its work culture and business lines focused on electrification technology, robotics, industrial automation, and power grids from Switzerland, with branches in over 100 countries, including Indonesia.

Harina also explained The ABB Jürgen Dormann Foundation Scholarship, which offers scholarships to talented engineering and science students worldwide, including countries like Bulgaria, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, and Vietnam. The scholarship is provided for up to three years, with mentoring from ABB Indonesia.

In addition to financial aid, scholarship recipients also have the opportunity to visit ABB’s factory in Switzerland. Through this visit, they can gain deeper insights into the company’s operations and acquire firsthand knowledge about the industry and technology developed by ABB, enriching their academic and professional experience.

In the next session, Kartika Damayanti, Talent Partner at PT ABB Sakti Industri, delivered a presentation on ABB Recruitment. Kartika not only discussed the recruitment process at ABB but also shared various tips for job seekers on how to find jobs that align with their expectations.

Kartika also explained how to create a strong resume (CV). She emphasized the importance of a good first impression on a resume by highlighting the applicant’s skills, competencies, and achievements. Kartika also stressed the importance of including relevant keywords related to the job qualifications and descriptions. This is crucial as many companies now filter candidates using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). ATS automatically searches for specific keywords in resumes, so applicants must ensure their resumes align with the company’s needs to avoid being overlooked by the system.

In the final session, Kartika shared key tips for handling job interviews. She explained various techniques for answering questions effectively, helping applicants boost their confidence and improve their chances of being noticed by companies. One of her main tips was thorough preparation before the interview, including researching the company and the position applied for, and understanding how to relate personal experiences to the company’s needs.

“Through events like this, I hope FTUI students and graduates can apply the knowledge provided and become more prepared to compete in the multinational job market with enhanced competencies and broader insights,” said Acting Dean Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D.
