FTUI Welcomes International Students of The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS) Program

On Thursday, October 24, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), warmly welcomed international students participating in The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS) Program. Four students from Zimbabwe and Kenya—Faith Patience John, Shantel Fortunate Bosha, and Memory Kululanga from Zimbabwe, and Yusra Ahmed Breik from Kenya—arrived in Indonesia on October 19, 2024, and will begin classes on October 28, 2024.

These students are enrolled in FTUI’s International Undergraduate Program, with two students in the Civil Engineering program, one in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and one in Architecture. The welcoming event was attended by Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., FTUI Education Manager; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of the FTUI International Office; and Dyas L. Citraningrum, S.T., M.T., Coordinator of the International Undergraduate Program.

In their welcome address, the faculty introduced the primary e-learning platforms that students will use during their studies at Universitas Indonesia: the E-Learning Management System (EMAS) and the Academic Information System – Next Generation (SIAK-NG). Students were also informed about supplementary classes to be held during the first eight weeks to help them catch up on any course material they may have missed. Faculty advisors will contact the students directly with further information regarding these supplementary classes.

Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, as Head of the FTUI International Office, expressed hopes that the TIAS international students would maintain high motivation in keeping up with academic requirements. The supplementary class schedule will be integrated into the SIAK-NG platform, allowing students to easily access their full academic schedules. Additionally, Fadhilah Muslim encouraged students to engage in non-academic activities, such as sports clubs and student organizations, which Dyas L. Citraningrum, S.T., M.T., will facilitate to help them explore various student organizations at FTUI.

Fadhilah Muslim also emphasized that the FTUI International Office is always ready to assist students in handling both academic and non-academic challenges. With this support, FTUI hopes that international students will adapt well and pursue their studies successfully and smoothly at FTUI.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, stated, “We are delighted to welcome the international students from The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS) Program to the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. Their presence not only enriches the diversity of our academic environment but also strengthens FTUI’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and knowledge sharing on a global level. We hope that these students adapt well and achieve success in their studies here.”
