FTUI Hosts Socialization on the Formation of Lecturer Expertise Groups

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held a socialization event on the Formation of Lecturer Expertise Groups (Kelompok Bidang Keahlian – KBK) on Thursday (21/11). The event took place in the Senate Room on the 1st floor of the Dean’s Building, featuring two main speakers: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Amalia Suzianti, S.T., M.Sc., and Agus Anang, M.T.I.

The event aimed to support the implementation of Ministerial Regulation No. 44 of 2024 on Professions, Careers, and Income by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This regulation grants higher education institutions full autonomy to manage their lecturers and develop academic expertise in alignment with the institution’s vision, mission, and objectives. The regulation emphasizes the need for human resources to support educational development, reflected in the Academic Position Formation for Lecturers. This serves as the basis for distributing Lecturer Performance Indicators (IKD) and career promotion mapping within universities.

“One key aspect of this regulation is the development of academic expertise, encompassing knowledge trees, branches, and sub-branches, supported by Expertise Groups (KBK). Each KBK must consist of at least four lecturer members, including one Professor, 1-2 Associate Professors, 1-2 Assistant Professors, and 1-3 Junior Lecturers. These compositions must consider the student-to-faculty ratio, the ratio of academic positions within the KBK, and the fiscal capacity of the faculty or department,” explained Prof. Amalia, Director of Human Resources at UI, during her presentation.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, stated, “The formation of KBK is expected to serve as a platform for leading the development of knowledge within the UI environment. Therefore, unit leaders at the faculty or departmental level are encouraged to form KBK that aligns with these guidelines. This socialization provides the entire academic community with a clear understanding of the importance of strategic and structured academic planning to support institutional growth and academic career opportunities for lecturers at Universitas Indonesia.”
