Rector’s Greetings to the Faculty of Engineering, UI: Building Synergy and Togetherness in UI’s Transformation

On Wednesday (March 5), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), hosted the Rector’s Greeting event, an important agenda that brought together the university’s leadership and the academic community of FTUI. This event served as a platform for faculty members, students, and educational staff to engage directly with the UI rector and his team to discuss various policies and strategies for the university’s development.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., in his speech emphasized FTUI’s commitment to improving academic quality and facilities to create a more comfortable and innovative campus environment.
“Rector’s Greeting is an important forum to strengthen communication between the university leadership and the academic community. FTUI continues to improve academic quality, facilities, and industry and international collaboration, including enforcing the smoking ban and redesigning the parking system. We hope for full support to make FTUI a pioneer in excellent engineering education,” said Prof. Kemas.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, the Rector of UI, presented the organizational restructuring that includes various directorates, offices, UPTs, and bodies, focusing on transparent governance and enhancing global reputation. In the 2024-2029 strategy, UI is committed to becoming a leader in innovation, raising academic standards, and fostering entrepreneurship with an inclusive education system based on international standards. The management of UI’s Endowment Fund ensures operational sustainability through investment, to increase fundraising until 2029. Additionally, UI is optimizing its assets and campus areas to support the university’s sustainability and research-based innovation.
“Restructuring and UI’s Endowment Fund ensure better governance, operational sustainability, and a stronger global reputation. We want UI to not only excel academically but also be innovative in creating solutions for the future of education,” said Prof. Heri.
The event became even more engaging with an interactive Q&A session, where faculty members, staff, and students shared their aspirations and hopes for UI’s policies moving forward. Various issues were discussed in the conversation, including the improvement of learning facilities, support for research and innovation, staff welfare, and strengthening student programs and entrepreneurship. The Rector of UI enthusiastically responded to each input and reiterated the university’s commitment to providing solutions and policies that benefit the entire academic community.
As a closing, the Rector’s Greeting event was followed by a communal iftar, attended by all participants. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and togetherness as the entire academic community gathered in the meaningful spirit of Ramadan. This moment became an opportunity for camaraderie and reflection on building a more advanced UI.
Through this event, it is hoped that the synergy between the university’s leadership and the academic community will grow stronger, leading UI to a future that is more excellent and impactful for Indonesia.
