At the graduation ceremony for the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) conferred degrees to 1,655 graduates from various levels of study who successfully completed their education. The FTUI graduation ceremony was held jointly with the Faculty of Psychology on Saturday (September 12) at Balairung Universitas Indonesia.
From the Undergraduate Program, 283 students earned the Cum Laude distinction, and 14 students achieved Summa Cum Laude in the regular program, while 34 students graduated Cum Laude and 1 student Summa Cum Laude from the International Undergraduate Program (KKI). At the Professional Engineer Program (PPI) level, 30 graduates received Cum Laude and 33 graduates Summa Cum Laude. Meanwhile, the Master’s Program produced 198 Cum Laude and 40 Summa Cum Laude graduates. For the highest level, the Doctoral Program, FTUI graduated 14 Cum Laude doctors and 6 Summa Cum Laude doctors.
Among the top graduates of the undergraduate program, Trevan Sean Lioes from the Department of Civil Engineering achieved an Outstanding GPA of 3.93, earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. His exceptional accomplishment reflects his consistent learning strategy and unwavering commitment throughout his studies. Trevan represented his fellow FTUI graduates in receiving congratulations from the Rector and the Dean.
“All praise to God, I achieved a GPA of 3.93. The most important factor in reaching this point was commitment—to always give my best. I realize that not everyone has the opportunity to study, so I must be responsible and make the most of it,” Trevan shared.
In his daily academic routine, Trevan prioritizes understanding at least 70 percent of the material explained by lecturers while completing assignments to the best of his ability. With this strategy, he avoids the last-minute “all-nighter” study method, relying instead on consistent review before exams.
Beyond his academic achievements, Trevan actively participated in various national and international competitions. He was among the Top 3 winners of the CENS FTUI Innovative Essay Competition with his team’s idea of an earthquake-resistant modular house, ranked in the Top 15 of the NTU Bridge Design Competition, and served as a presenter at the 2024 National Committee on Large Dams (KNIBB) Seminar.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his admiration for Trevan’s achievements.
“Trevan is a true example of how consistency, responsibility, and strong commitment can lead FTUI students to outstanding academic success while actively contributing at the national and international levels. His achievement reflects FTUI’s spirit of producing graduates who are excellent, innovative, and impactful for the nation,” said Prof. Kemas.
Trevan’s success stands as proof that FTUI students are not only capable of overcoming rigorous academic challenges but also of actively contributing innovative solutions to society.
