FTUI Integrity Zone Workshop: Strengthening Change Agents through the Inclusion of Faculty Members and Education Personnel

On Thursday (September 4), the Integrity Zone (ZI) Lever 1 Team of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held a Change Agents Workshop at the Smart Meeting Room, FTUI Administration Building. The meeting, conducted in a hybrid format—both in person and online via Zoom—served as an implementation step of FTUI’s Bureaucratic Reform Program, particularly within Lever 1: Change Management.

Opening the event, Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Coordinator of Lever 1: Change Management, delivered his remarks. He noted that in the previous year, FTUI had participated in the Integrity Zone program and successfully achieved first place at the Universitas Indonesia level. He expressed hope that this achievement would bring a positive impact and serve as a model for the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, and the nation.

Prof. Harinaldi emphasized,

“The Integrity Zone is not merely a competition we participate in, but a meaningful effort to strengthen the faculty’s integrity. This year, we will move toward the next stage—the national level, aiming for the WBK (Corruption-Free Bureaucracy) and WBBM (Clean and Serving Bureaucracy) titles. However, some requirements have yet to be met, so we cannot submit for evaluation just yet. Nevertheless, we are expected to maintain the consistency of our Integrity Zone efforts while preparing all necessary elements to advance to the national level.”

This year, the Change Agents have been strengthened through the inclusion of lecturers and education personnel (tendik) from each department within FTUI—each represented by two lecturers (one senior and one junior) and two education staff members (one senior and one junior). Prof. Harinaldi believes that senior figures bring wisdom and experience, while younger members contribute energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to drive transformation.

Nourma Yunita, representing the FTUI Integrity Zone Secretariat, delivered a presentation on the role of Change Agents. She explained that FTUI Change Agents are individuals responsible for driving positive change within the faculty by initiating, implementing, and evaluating transformation processes in their respective units. The inclusion of both lecturers and staff members this year is expected to strengthen this role, encouraging collaborative participation across different levels and generations within FTUI.

She further outlined the strategic roles of Change Agents as follows:

  • Catalyst – fostering understanding and conviction about the importance of change.
  • Driver – encouraging active participation among the academic community.
  • Problem Solver – offering alternative solutions to challenges in the change process.
  • Mediator – resolving conflicts and maintaining harmony between parties.
  • Connector – facilitating two-way communication between staff and leadership.
  • Role Model – exemplifying integrity, professionalism, and achievement in daily work.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his belief that the commitment, dedication, and creativity of FTUI’s Change Agents will accelerate the realization of the six reform areas within the faculty’s Integrity Zone. With a spirit of collaboration, they will not only lead internal governance improvements but also inspire the entire academic community to move together toward a clean, transparent, and service-oriented bureaucracy.

Prof. Kemas further emphasized that FTUI’s Change Agents are the driving force in embedding and promoting integrity values throughout the organization. Their presence serves as a model for cultivating a work culture grounded in honesty, discipline, and service, while bridging leadership policies with real-world implementation at the operational level.
