FTUI Partners with Japanese Companies to Advance Intelligent Transportation Technology in Indonesia.

The longstanding friendship between Indonesia and Japan has been reflected in the presence of numerous companies supporting the sustainability of the Indonesia industry. In recent years, intelligent transportation technology has become a key priority and is expected to continue evolving. On Wednesday (March 11), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), together with LocationMind Inc. and Oriental Consultants Global, signed a cooperation agreement on the development of transportation and infrastructure.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated in his remarks that the signing of this agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration among academia, industry, and international partners in addressing the complex challenges of transportation and mobility in a rapidly evolving world.

“The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, has always believed that meaningful innovation emerges when knowledge, technology, and practical expertise come together. In this regard, we are delighted to partner with LocationMind Inc., a pioneer in spatial AI and location-based data analytics, as well as Oriental Consultants Global, a highly respected engineering consultancy with extensive experience in transportation and infrastructure development worldwide. We also deeply appreciate the support and involvement of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), whose commitment to international collaboration continues to drive important partnerships between Japan and countries in this region,” said Prof. Kemas.

Through this collaboration, the partners aim to develop and implement new solutions for intelligent transportation systems, such as traffic optimization and data-driven planning. The partnership is expected to generate joint research projects, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote the testing of innovative technologies in real-world conditions. These outcomes are intended to enhance mobility while supporting sustainable infrastructure development that benefits both countries and the wider community.
