On Wednesday (9/3), the Bangbro badminton team led by Prof. Bambang Brojonegoro held a badminton exhibition with a team from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the University Administration Center at UI. The exhibition was attended by 21 Bangbro team members, including national athlete Chandra Wijaya, 25 team members from FTUI, 24 team members from FMIPA and 6 people from the PAU badminton team. The badminton exhibition was held at the UI Sports Facility (SOR).
Prof. Bambang Brojonegoro expressed his appreciation and gratitude for UI’s willingness to host this badminton exhibition event. “Hopefully, the sports community in UI will grow. Includes all academics, not only lecturers, staff, but also students and alumni. We from the Bambro community welcome this invitation. Hopefully later we can compete with just being happy, having fun, not winning or losing. Once again, I thank you, finally myself as a person, as a UI citizen, can play in the UI environment because I usually play badminton outside the UI.”
The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU said, “Welcome Prof. Bambang. It was a pleasure to have worked under you previously. Prof. Bambang is like a teacher to me. Thank you. The team from FTUI this afternoon are also athletes, sir. Former athletes, when we were studying abroad. Like the Vice Dean 1 of FTUI, he used to be a badminton athlete when he was still studying in Japan and was quite successful in sports contests between students. Hopefully, the remnants of his glory in this badminton event can still be seen. We thank Prof. Bambang who has been here. Hopefully after this event, we can continue to work together that has an impact in the future.”
Dean of FMIPA UI, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D. warmly welcome the visit of the Bangbro badminton team to UI. “Thank you Prof. Bambang and the participants. At FMIPA, we usually practice badminton every Tuesday and Friday, please if friends from FT or PAU want to practice. This exhibition is also a place for healthy friendship between us. Get together while exercising. Hopefully this afternoon’s event can run smoothly.”
The event continued with the exchange of souvenirs in the form of t-shirts from UI to the Bangbro team and from the Bangbro team to the UI team. The exhibition match itself is held in a unique format, namely three on three. A total of seven Bangbro teams competed against seven combined teams from FTUI, FMIPA and PAU. Each team competed twice during the badminton exhibition.
