Biotech for Stronger Recovery: UI Hosts the Asian Biotechnology Community Congress in Bali

The Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) hosted the Asian Biotechnology Community Congress. Delegations from 19 countries gathered in Bali to discuss biotechnology developments, especially to support the recovery of the world community, especially the Asian community affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This international congress will be held on 3-5 October 2022.

15 related topics are the focus of the 15th Asian Congress on Biotechnology (ACB) 2022 held together with FTUI’s annual international symposium, the 7th International Symposium on Biomedical Engineering (ISBE). Agricultural and Food Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Nanobiotechnology, Biosensors and Biochips, Bioprocess and Bioseparation, Environmental Biotechnology, Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials, Bioenergy and Biorefinery, many more topics were discussed and discussed during the 3 days of the event.

The Chancellor of the University of Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D. in his speech said, “Learning from our experience in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, we can see how important collaboration between countries is, especially in the field of biotechnology. Things such as rapid test development, vaccine development and others, need to be done together so that in the future it can help recovery during the pandemic and post-pandemic. This is in line with the G20 theme, Recover Together, Recover Stronger.”

“This international conference can finally take place after being delayed for three years due to the impact of the pandemic. Starting from Monday (3/10), 294 papers from 909 participants from 17 countries will be presented. 61 speakers from 18 countries also shared their experiences and knowledge at 50 hybrid sessions held in Bali,” said Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU at the opening of the event.

This activity was organized by FTUI in collaboration with the Asian Federation of Biotechnology, the European Federation of Biotechnology, Indonesian Biotechnology Consortium and Udayana University.
