The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held an Entrepreneurship Festival in conjunction with the 2022 FTUI Guidance Period Advanced Development entitled “Campus as a Preparation and Career Opportunities for the Future (CARPO)” on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the UI Balairung.

The Entrepreneurship Festival is a place to introduce innovation and entrepreneurship activities that exist and is developed within the FTUI environment, especially for new students of FTUI class of 2022. The Entrepreneurship Festival series of events itself consists of Student and Alumni Talkshows, Mentoring and Bootcamps, Public Lectures, and Entrepreneurship Booths.

In his remarks, the Minister of SOEs of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir, B.A., M.B.A., said “Here, our demographics are at the peak of productivity, where the productive workforce dominates the population and controls the direction of our nation’s future success. So we must not neglect and ignore the struggle from today. As new fellow students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia since today and since this campus, your struggles in learning to work and trying to take into account the growth of the quality of your family, and of course Indonesia.”

In line with the welcoming material delivered by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia, the Student and Alumni Talkshow session also discussed preparation for entering post-campus life as an entrepreneur even since he was in college. The Student and Alumni Talkshow session this time was attended by Yolla Miranda (Chemical Engineering 2013 and CEO of MaskIt), Alif Hikmah Fikri (Shipment Engineering 2016 and CEO of Inventing), and Juan Khosashi (Chemical Engineering 2019 and CEO of Albatros) who shared their struggles in pioneering business from student to full-time entrepreneur.

In addition, new students of FTUI class of 2022 also participated in Mentoring and Bootcamp sessions at this Entrepreneurship Festival. In the Bootcamp session, FTUI students had the opportunity to visit and discuss directly with representatives of startups and MSMEs who participated in enlivening the 20 Entrepreneurship Festival booths. The Mentoring and Bootcamp activities are expected to be able to encourage the strengthening of technical innovation and entrepreneurship in the FTUI environment.

President Commissioner of Telkomsel and Tokopedia, Wishnutama Kusubandio, in the General Lecture session said “Innovation takes courage to get out of your comfort zone and do things beyond what others have done before. Innovation also takes courage to try without fear of failure and learn from the failures we experience. When FTUI’s fellow students are studying, this is the greatest opportunity to develop their abilities as well as increase their relationships with other future leaders. Hopefully you FTUI students are among those who always choose to continue to make breakthroughs and innovate so that they can adapt to all challenges and provide answers to problems that exist in this era of digital disruption.”

The CARPOxEntrepreneurship Festival is organized by FTUI in collaboration with the Student Executive Board (BEM) and the 2022 FTUI Student Association.
