FTUI and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Hold an Energy Efficiency Innovation Workshop

To encourage innovations in the field of energy conservation, the Directorate of Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources together with the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) held an Energy Efficiency Innovation Workshop at the Smart Meeting Room FTUI, Thursday (17/11).

As a form of supporting the government’s program towards Net Zero Emissions, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources continues to carry out various programs and activities to encourage more efficient use of energy. One of the efforts made is to give the Subroto award in the field of energy efficiency, to capture and appreciate industry circles that have succeeded in implementing energy efficiency efforts both as a whole through energy management and other innovative programs. So that this workshop is expected to be able to build collaboration between academia and industry by presenting speakers from several recipients of the Subroto award in the field of energy efficiency in 2022.

Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU said, “In managing a country’s energy, three pillars need to be implemented, namely: energy security, energy equity, environmental sustainability, namely energy security, especially reliable energy supply, equality of people to get energy with affordable prices, and finally applying the principle of environmental sustainability. This implies that in the future energy supply will not only be met with renewable energy but also with energy efficiency.”

Acting Director of Energy Conservation, Hendra Iswayuhdi, in his remarks, said, “We hope that with this event discussions can be established from the industrial sector and academia in exploring further the potential of energy efficiency programs. Hopefully what is presented can bring up new ideas that may not have been thought of before and research -research that has been conducted by academics can be promoted and entered in the Subroto award event in the field of energy efficiency.”

While the Head of the Engineering Interdisciplinary Education and Research Unit, Head of the FTUI Energy Systems Engineering Masters Study Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA. responded positively to the Energy Efficiency Innovation Workshop, saying “By holding this workshop, it is hoped that fellow practitioners, government institutions, and students can share knowledge so that energy efficiency programs in Indonesia are more advanced.”

Speakers for the Energy Efficiency Innovation Workshop are representatives of the three winners of the Subroto Award in the Field of Energy Efficiency in 2022 organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia for the Sub-Category of Special Innovations in Energy Management in Industry and Buildings:

  1. Pertamina EP Zone 7 Tambun Field, with the theme “Conversion of a diesel engine into a mini gas compressor to increase energy production and performance. Towards Zero Routine Flaring Program 2030”,
  2. Indocement Tunggal Prakasa Tbk. Citeureup Factory with the theme “Optimizing the use of Spent Bleanching Earth (SBE) as an alternative fuel in Plant 11 of the Citeureup Factory using the six sigma methodology”, and
  3. PLN Nusantara Power UP PAITON presented the theme “Application of the new i-STACKING method (Integrated Stockpile Thermography and GPS Tracking) to save energy based on coal temperature at PT PJB UP Paiton.”
