CCIT FTUI Forum Discusses Career Opportunities for Gen Z in the Digital Era with Japanese Experts

CCIT FTUI, in collaboration with Cicom Brains Indonesia, hosted a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Gen Z, Career Opportunities, and Preparing for the Workforce” at the CCIT FTUI Auditorium (11/13). The event was made even more special by the presence of seven practitioners from Japan, who brought global insights and international industry perspectives to the students.

The event was moderated by Nugraheni Lintang, S.AB, MBA, the Country Manager of Cicom Brains Indonesia, who has extensive experience guiding young Indonesians to understand the demands of the professional world. As a moderator, Nugraheni highlighted crucial topics related to the challenges and career opportunities faced by Generation Z in the digital era.

“We hope this FGD serves as a platform to equip Gen Z with the readiness to compete globally. The presence of Japanese practitioners, experienced professionals in the technology sector, provides invaluable perspectives for the students,” said Nugraheni Lintang.

This FGD not only provided local perspectives but also facilitated cross-cultural discussions. Special guests from leading Japanese tech companies, including SCSK Corporation—renowned globally for its information technology solutions—shared their experiences and views on global technology trends and the skills needed to thrive in the advancing digital age.

The team of practitioners included:

  • Taisei Sato from the Business Design Promotion Division, focuses on advancing business development.
  • Mito Yabuta from the Financial Business Promotion Division discussed global expansion strategies within the Financial Business Group.
  • Kazuya Ueno from the Industrial Solutions Business Division, leads SAP S/4HANA migration projects and system maintenance.
  • Hiroyuki Mori from the Banking Systems Development Department, shared his expertise in analyzing requirements, designing, and testing financial systems.

  • Ritsuko Toki from the Solution Business Promotion Division, oversees medium-term planning for her business group.
  • Koki Isa from the Mobility Systems Division, explained his role in creating OEM requirement specifications and ensuring software quality in mobility systems.

Director of CCIT FTUI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryanegara, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, shared his aspirations for the event, “At CCIT FTUI, we are committed to preparing graduates who can excel not only in domestic markets but also in international arenas. The presence of Japanese practitioners reflects our concrete steps to provide students with global experiences firsthand.”

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, emphasized, “With insights from Japanese guests, students gain fresh perspectives not only on local but also global job market needs. These professionals bring a unique approach, particularly in understanding cross-cultural skills and adapting to rapid technological advancements.”

The FGD served as an interactive platform for students to engage directly with Japanese professionals in group discussions, covering various relevant topics:

  • Career Opportunities in the Digital Era: Discussing fast-growing job sectors and how Gen Z can leverage these opportunities.
  • Skills Needed for the Future: Highlighting both technical skills, such as programming and data analytics, and non-technical skills like communication and leadership.
  • Digital Transformation and Technological Challenges: Understanding how digital transformation impacts the workforce and the challenges Gen Z must tackle to remain relevant.
  • Innovation and Creativity in Careers: Exploring the importance of innovation and creative thinking to address future career challenges.
  • Strategies for Workforce Readiness: Formulating strategies for Gen Z to enter the workforce with confidence.
  • Perceptions of Gen Z in the Workplace: Tackling negative perceptions and building a positive professional image to support career growth.
  • The Role of Educational Institutions in Workforce Preparation: Discussing recommendations for educational institutions to better prepare young graduates for employment.

Each discussion group was accompanied by a Japanese professional, allowing students to interact directly and ask questions about working in Japan, Japanese work culture, and the latest technological developments in the country.

Through this activity, CCIT FTUI aims to better prepare students, especially Gen Z, to face the increasingly complex and dynamic professional world. The presence of Japanese professionals added significant value, providing unique global perspectives that are rarely accessible in academic environments.
