After surpassing more than 900 participants, three students from the Continuing Education Program (CEP) at the Center for Computing and Information Technology (CCIT), Faculty of Engineering (FT) at the University of Indonesia (UI), clinched 3rd place in the Cloud Track competition at the Huawei ICT Competition 2023 Indonesia. Muhammad Nabiel Rayhan Falaah, Muhammad Husain Al Ghazali, and Aurio Hendrianoko Rajaa achieved this accolade after successfully navigating through the preliminary stage, representing the University of Indonesia at the national level.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryaneagara, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, the Director of CCIT FTUI, expressed his appreciation for this achievement, stating, “The team’s success in securing the third position in the Cloud Track competition is tangible evidence of dedication, hard work, and profound understanding in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It also demonstrates that the learning approach applied at CCIT FTUI yields satisfactory and industry-relevant results.”
Throughout the competition, held from September to December 2023, the three CEP-CCIT FTUI students, under the guidance of two CCIT lecturers, Indah Ayu Yuliani S.T., M.M., and Ivan Firdaus, S.T., underwent four stages: Preliminary, National Final, Regional Final, and Global. Ivan explained, “The preliminary stage is the college-level elimination round that took place from October 16 to October 30, 2023, to select the best participants at the University of Indonesia. In this stage, the CCIT team successfully represented the University of Indonesia to advance to the National Final.”
Furthermore, the National Final took place from October 23 to December 15, 2023, involving a theoretical exam where participants were tested with true or false, single-answer, and multiple-answer questions. In addition to answering questions, extra scores were awarded to participants who completed Huawei certifications, namely Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (HCIP), and Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE). In this regard, all three team members successfully obtained HCIA certification, earning additional points in the evaluation.
One team member, Nabiel Rayhan, shared the process they went through as a team. “Huawei ICT Competition 2023 consists of three tracks: Network Track, Computing Track, and Cloud Track. The Cloud Track revolves around IT technologies such as Cloud, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence,” said Nabiel. He added that in the preliminary stage, they had 90 minutes to answer 60 questions, while in the national final stage, they had 90 minutes to answer 90 questions.
In a separate statement, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., the Dean of FTUI, expressed pride in the achievement of the three CEP-CCIT FTUI students. “The entire FTUI community will continue to commit to creating an academic environment that supports, empowers, and encourages students to excel in various fields, including information and communication technology,” said Prof. Heri.
The winners of the Huawei ICT Competition 2023 Indonesia were announced at the Indonesia Digital Talent Day 2023 event with the theme “Unleash Digital Talent Potential Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” on December 20, 2023. The event was held at Tarumanegara University, Jakarta, and was attended by several prominent figures, including Chief of Presidential Staff General TNI (Ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko, S.I.P., M.A., Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, Asean Eng., and CEO of Huawei Indonesia Guo Hailong.
