Commencing 60th Dies Natalis Celebrations, ILUNI FTUI ’84 Holds Monthly Session

Kickstarting the series of events for the 60th Dies Natalis celebration, the Class of ’84 of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI FTUI), organized a Monthly Study Session of the Al Muhandis FTUI Council on Saturday (27/02). The event took place at the Engineering Mosque.

The monthly study sessions by ILUNI FTUI Class of 1984 have been ongoing since 2018 and have now entered their 6th year of organization. These sessions are regularly attended by alumni from six departments, namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Architecture, and Gas Petrochemical Engineering.

According to Eddy, a member of ILUNI FTUI Class of 1984, “The study sessions organized by our class are held every month, 2 or 3 times online and 1 time in person. The gathering at the Engineering Mosque on Saturday, January 27, was the second in-person session. Before that, we used to conduct them online. During Ramadan, we always have iftar (breaking of fast) together. The main purpose is to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.”

These regular monthly study sessions usually feature invited religious scholars to provide simple yet meaningful insights. The topic for the session held on Saturday, January 27, was “Learning the Wisdom of Jibril’s Advice to the Prophet,” presented by Ustadz Zulfikarullah. One of the subtopics covered was the identification of 5 sources of suffering and their remedies.

Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., welcomed the monthly activities organized by ILUNI FTUI Class of 1984, stating, “This activity can be considered as the opening event for the 60th-anniversary celebration of FTUI. It not only strengthens the bonds of brotherhood but also instils and enhances values, particularly those related to religious aspects. Hopefully, positive initiatives like this can become routine activities that contribute to the well-being of others.”
