Continuously Improving the Accreditation of Various Study Programs, UPMA FTUI Organizes Socialization of the Latest Accreditation System

On Monday (05/02), the Academic Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (UPMA FTUI), organized a Socialization of the Latest Accreditation System per Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 53 of 2023. The socialization took place in the Senate Academic Meeting Room on the 2nd floor of the Dean’s Office building, FTUI. In this socialization activity on the Latest Accreditation System, UPMA FTUI invited Assessors from the Engineering Accreditation Board (LAM Teknik), including Prof. Dr-Ing. Ir. Nasruddin, M.Eng., a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at FTUI.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Winarto, M.Sc., Head of UPMA FTUI, stated in his opening remarks, “This regulation arises due to the current condition where there is an increasing number of study programs and higher education institutions that are not yet accredited, thus the issuance of this latest regulation. Therefore, let us together understand the latest accreditation system regulations issued by the Directorate General of Higher Education so that we can strengthen the quality and accreditation of various study programs at FTUI, producing more competitive graduates.”

The activity continued with a presentation session on the Latest Accreditation System by Prof. Nasruddin. He conveyed that in the latest rules, each study program and higher education institution in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is free to determine its focus, whether it is only focused on teaching, research, or community service.

Further elaborating on the latest accreditation system, Prof. Nasruddin highlighted a crucial point, stating, “Currently, in the latest regulations, there is no obligation to achieve a ranking. Only three classifications apply in the latest accreditation system, namely Excellent, Accredited, and Not Accredited.”

At the end of the socialization, various questions were raised from different departments, mainly related to the automation of the accreditation renewal process for each department. This was promptly and thoroughly answered by Prof. Nasruddin.

In a separate statement, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., expressed that, “Through this socialization of the latest accreditation system, it is hoped that the departments understand what needs to be prepared when seeking accreditation for new study programs or renewing their existing ones. It is expected that this socialization will serve as a means to improve the quality and accreditation of FTUI study programs to be more outstanding and impactful.”
