The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), once again demonstrated its commitment to developing outstanding human resources through the event “Dean’s Address to Outstanding Students,” held on Tuesday (May 28) at the IDE Auditorium, FTUI Campus. The event was attended by 75 outstanding students from various study programs and cohorts.
Present at the event were the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., and the Manager of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr.rer.pol. Ir. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T.
In his remarks, Prof. Kemas expressed his appreciation to the students who have achieved outstanding accomplishments, both nationally and internationally, in academic and non-academic fields. He emphasised the importance of collaboration and human values in shaping future engineers who are not only academically excellent but also socially conscious and resilient in the face of global challenges.
“FTUI does not only produce graduates who are academically smart, but also caring, resilient, and globally competitive,” said Prof. Kemas.
As a concrete form of FTUI’s commitment to supporting students, the faculty has outlined the 2025–2029 Flagship Work Program, which includes several strategic initiatives such as scholarships and philanthropic support, digital transformation and technological innovation, academic-industry partnerships, inclusive and globally standardized facilities, as well as student welfare and counselling services.
FTUI is also preparing various improvements to learning support facilities, including the development of smart classrooms in Building S, the renovation of the smart auditorium K301, the renovation of the student canteen, the renovation of the elevator at the FTUI Salemba campus building—with priority given to lecturers, students with disabilities, and other users—and the revitalization of the Engineering Center corridor garden into a working space area.
The event also provided a space for interactive dialogue between students and faculty leadership. During the Q&A session, students shared their aspirations and challenges they had encountered during their studies at FTUI. Each question was responded to directly by Prof. Kemas and Dr. Romadhani Ardi, reflecting the leadership’s openness and commitment to continually improving the quality of services and learning experiences at FTUI.
The “Dean’s Address to Outstanding Students” served as a reminder that every achievement deserves appreciation and that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Through strategies focused on innovation, digitalization, collaboration, and social awareness, FTUI continues to move forward toward an inclusive, excellent, and globally recognized future.
