The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received socialization of the 2023 Innovation Funding Program from the Directorate of Innovation and Science Techno Park (DISTP) UI. This socialization was held on Wednesday (15/02) and was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Research and Student Education, FTUI, Dr. Imam Jauhari Maknun, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Secretary of the Innovation Entrepreneurial Unit and Head of Logistics FTUI, Sugeng Supriadi, S.T., M.S.Eng., Ph.D., Head of the Innovation Development Subdirectorate of the UI DISTP and Prasandhya Astagiri Y., S. Si., M.T., Ph.D., Head of the Sub-Directorate of Business Incubator, DISTP UI.
Sugeng Supriadi, S.T., M.S.Eng., Ph.D. explained that “On this occasion, I represent the Director of Innovation and Science Techno Park (DISTP) UI, Ahmad Gamal, S.Ars., M.Sc., MUP, Ph.D., carry out this socialization to assist FTUI in selecting schemes and partners for optimizing the UI innovation funding program. We hope that this funding can develop cross-disciplinary innovation research so that it can accommodate innovations that are still low in Technology Readiness Level (TRL) towards higher TRL levels (P1-P6).”
There are several stages towards a higher TRL, for example, the market and regulatory research program at stage P1. In P2, there is a collaboration that implements the social innovation policy. Furthermore, in P3, there is product development to improve TRL or improve engineering. Whereas in P4 it was reported that the product development program could go to a higher stage, namely P5, preparing for testing. In the final stage, namely P6 where product development adapts to market needs and industrial partners.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU. Conveying, “The FTUI Innovation Entrepreneurial Unit also actively encourages FTUI inventors to continue to improve the TRL of their innovative products. For this reason, it is hoped that innovation funding such as that developed by DISTP UI will be able to involve more FTUI inventors, especially in establishing multidisciplinary collaboration.”
