The Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), successfully held the Architecture Final Project Exhibition 2025 from June 30 to August 20, 2025. The exhibition was open to the public and free of charge, taking place on the 1st to 3rd floors of the Department of Architecture building, UI Campus, Depok.
The exhibition was curated under the academic and curatorial guidance of Prof. Yandi Andri Yatmo, S.T., M.Arch., Ph.D., ensuring that the students’ works were presented in a structured and communicative manner. The involvement of faculty members strengthened the connection between the learning process and public appreciation spaces.
One of the most captivating works came from Brigita, an FTUI Architecture student, who presented a study titled “Cyborg Infrastructure Architecture Through a Feminist Perspective.”
Brigita’s study explores architecture through a feminist lens, emphasizing relationships, affection, and sustainability beyond binary gender oppositions. In her work, architecture is conceptualized as a cyborg entity—a hybrid body that weaves together biological, technological, and spatial dimensions. Architecture is no longer seen merely as a static object or functional container but as a relational field that is fluid, nomadic, and responsive to the emotional rhythms of its users and surrounding environment.
Through this perspective, Brigita challenges the conventional logic of efficiency and domination in architecture. Instead, she presents a concept of space that mediates affective and ecological regeneration through open, reciprocal interaction. Sustainability in her work is not only understood in terms of material aspects but also as a living emotional network—where space and its inhabitants care for, influence, and transform one another within a connected ecosystem.
“For me, architecture should be seen as a living space, not merely as a building. Through the cyborg approach, I want to highlight how architecture can serve as a relational medium that ethically and sustainably nurtures the interconnectedness between humans, technology, and the environment,” said Brigita.
The exhibition demonstrates how FTUI Architecture students continue to produce innovative ideas that go beyond functionality and aesthetics, touching upon philosophical, emotional, and ecological dimensions. Through works like these, the Department of Architecture FTUI reaffirms its commitment to nurturing graduates who are critical, adaptive, and ready to contribute to the development of global architecture.
“The Architecture Final Project Exhibition is not only a space for appreciating students’ works but also a reflection of their courage to explore critical and innovative ideas. I see how FTUI Architecture students can integrate technical, aesthetic, and philosophical aspects into their designs. This shows that FTUI is not only producing professionally skilled architects but also thinkers who are ready to contribute to architectural development at both the national and global levels,” said Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI.
