The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), strengthened its commitment to building collaborations with the industrial sector through the Engineering Network event, held on August 26-27, 2024. This event was a key part of FTUI’s 60th-anniversary celebration at the FTUI Interdisciplinary Engineering (IDE) Building. The Partnership Awards aimed to give the highest appreciation to FTUI’s partners who have collaborated in various initiatives, contributing positively to the advancement of industry and society.
The Partnership Award is designed to recognize the contributions of partners in supporting various FTUI initiatives, ranging from Continuing Education to Collaborative Research. With a total of 14 award categories, FTUI emphasizes the importance of productive collaborations to prepare graduates for the challenges of the industry.
The 14 Partnership Award categories include Continuing Education awarded to 14 FTUI partners, Certified Professional Training to 20 partners, Student Internship to 287 partners, Industry Academic Sharing to 28 partners, Industry Immersion to 47 partners, Utilization of Laboratory Services to 16 partners, Utilization of Consulting Services to 46 partners, Collaborative Research to 8 partners, Reverse Engineering to 4 partners, Product Licensing to 3 partners, Student Scholarship to 32 partners, Donation & Branding to 9 partners, Talent Recruitment to 98 partners, and Commercial Partnership to 5 partners.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., stated, “We believe that close collaboration with industry is the key to creating innovations that benefit society and support a learning process that is relevant to the needs of the workforce. Through the Engineering Network and these awards, FTUI is committed to continuing to build mutually beneficial partnerships with the industry. These awards not only acknowledge the contributions of our partners but also encourage broader cooperation, which will have a significant impact on our graduates and the development of technology in Indonesia.”
Prof. Heri also stressed the importance of engagement between academia and industry. “In this era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, FTUI believes that strong relationships with industry are the key to ensuring the relevance and quality of the education we offer. Industry not only provides a space for students to apply the knowledge they have learned but also opens opportunities for beneficial cooperation in various fields. Through the activities we organize, this event serves as a platform to expand networks and assess potential further collaborations,” he added.
PT Petrosea Tbk was one of the awardees in the Collaborative Research and Reverse Engineering categories. Sahala Sigalingging, Head of Electric Vehicle at PT Petrosea Tbk, appreciated this initiative, saying, “The Engineering Network is a tremendous step in building stronger cooperation between academia and industry. Our collaboration with FTUI demonstrates how research outcomes can be practically implemented in the industrial sector.”
In addition to the award ceremony, FTUI also signed cooperation agreements with several strategic partners: an internship agreement with PT HLI Green Power, PT Ciba Vision Batam Alcon, PT Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi Indonesia, and PT Fiberhome Technologies Indonesia; joint recruitment with PT Ciba Vision Batam Alcon; an educational cooperation program for the Ministry of Transportation employees’ master’s degree; and a donation from PT LG Indonesia.
FTUI also introduced its various business units that are ready to partner with the industry. Nine FTUI business units showcased their services, including the Center for Materials Processing and Failure Analysis (CMPFA), the Community Service Units from the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, VERITAS TECHNOLOGIA UI, Continuing Education Program–Center for Computing and Information Technology (CEP CCIT), Lembaga Teknologi (LEMTEK), the Community Service Unit from the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Industrial Engineering Business Unit (VENTURI).
The Engineering Network event was supported by PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, PT CIBA VISION Batam, Paragon Corp, PT SUCOFINDO, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Sayap Mas Utama (WINGS Group), and PT Tamara Overseas Corporindo.
