Enhancing UI Tracer Study Response Rate: FTUI Disseminates UI Tracer Study and Employer Study Results

On Wednesday (31/7), the Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni Unit (KVA) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held a Dissemination of UI Tracer Study (TSUI) and Employer Study 2023 Results to department heads and study program coordinators within FTUI. The event, held in the Smart Classroom at the FTUI Dean’s Building, aimed to socialize the use of 2023 TSUI data and results and to help increase the TSUI response rate.

The event began with opening remarks from the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., who stated, “The background of this activity is to support the Faculty of Engineering UI in increasing the response rate of the UI Tracer Study. This dissemination is organized as a strategic effort to enhance participation and the quality of data obtained from the tracer study and employer study. With a deeper understanding of the results of these studies, we hope to identify existing opportunities and challenges and determine the necessary improvements to enhance the quality of education and the relevance of our graduates in the workforce.”

In the first session, Ir. Ahmad Syafiq, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Director of the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations, presented material on utilizing Tracer Study and Employer Study data. His presentation was titled *”Enhancing the Relevance of Education through the Utilization of Tracer Study and Employer Study Data.”* Ahmad explained, “In the UI Employer Study (ESUI), information is gathered to determine whether the competencies provided at Universitas Indonesia (UI) are adequate and relevant to the current job market needs. Additionally, ESUI is conducted to provide input for higher education evaluations, including curriculum revisions based on job description analysis and understanding recruitment patterns and processes in the job market. This enables the UI Career Development Center (CDC-UI) to equip students and alumni with the right skills, making them more prepared to enter the workforce and adapt more effectively.”

The second session was led by Dr. Ade Solihat, S.S., M.A., with a presentation on the 2023 FTUI Tracer Study and Employer Study Results. Ade explained, “Tracer Studies provide information for evaluating higher education outcomes and are also essential for the improvement and quality assurance of higher education institutions. Additionally, tracer studies offer valuable insights into the relationship between higher education and the professional workforce, assess the relevance of higher education, provide information for stakeholders, and meet accreditation requirements.”

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, also shared his thoughts, stating, “We believe that the outcomes of this activity will significantly contribute to the development of the Faculty of Engineering UI and will help us formulate better strategies to improve the quality of education and our stakeholders.”
