Exploring New Educational Collaboration between FTUI and UNSW

The Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the Senate Room, Dean’s Building of FTUI, to explore new educational collaborations. During the delegation on May 16, 2024, both institutions discussed concrete steps to implement double degree programs for undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to create opportunities for FTUI undergraduate students to participate in a 2+2 double degree program. Under this scheme, students will spend two years studying at FTUI and two years at UNSW, ultimately earning two bachelor’s degrees from both universities. Besides the double degree program, FTUI also proposed student exchange schemes and free-paying study abroad programs for single-degree programs.

Additionally, in the discussion, UNSW offered programs to complete master’s and PhD degrees within a period of 3.5 to 4 years. This program is designed to provide opportunities for students who wish to pursue higher education in a faster and more efficient manner. UNSW is the first Australian university to partner with LPDP. This opens up opportunities for FTUI and UNSW students to obtain funding through LPDP for the double degree master’s and PhD programs.

The Head of the International Office of UI, Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, welcomed this collaboration and stated, “This collaboration is a strategic step to improve the quality of engineering education at UI and expand the international network with renowned universities like UNSW. The educational cooperation between these two institutions is expected to provide UI students with high-quality global education opportunities.”

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration and stated, “The Faculty of Engineering UI is always committed to providing the best engineering education for its students. The collaboration with UNSW is a testament to this commitment. We believe that this educational cooperation will bring significant benefits to UI students and enhance the reputation of the Faculty of Engineering UI on the international stage.”
