On Saturday (14/9), the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) successfully held a Parent-Student Meeting (POM) for students of the Regular Program. The event, which took place at Balairung UI, aimed to introduce the academic environment to the parents of the 2024 cohort of new students.
Acting Dean of FTUI, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., in his opening remarks, extended a warm welcome to the parents of the new students. In addition to greeting them, he also introduced the faculty and departmental management teams of FTUI serving for the 2022–2026 period. “Your sons and daughters are now embarking on a new journey in their university life at the Faculty of Engineering UI. The transition from high school to university requires adaptation. Therefore, it is crucial for you to trust your children as they develop and face the various challenges on campus,” explained Prof. Mahmud.
The event also featured a talk show with four main speakers: Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr. (Education Manager), Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng. (Head of the Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit), Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T. (Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service Manager), and Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC (Head of the International Office). The session, moderated by Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, covered essential information that parents should know while their children are pursuing their education at FTUI.
Dr. Nyoman Suwartha highlighted the significance of studying at FTUI and provided details about academic regulations, including IDM and IRS submissions and the academic calendar. Dr. Romadhani then emphasized the importance of character development and maintaining students’ mental health on campus. Prof. Harinaldi discussed the consequences of academic integrity violations, such as plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty. Meanwhile, Fadhilah Muslim spoke about career opportunities and scholarships, including international mobility schemes for regular students.
POM 2024 received positive feedback, with around 1,500 parents in attendance. This event marks an important step in supporting new FTUI students in achieving a successful and impactful future.
