Faculty of Engineering Undergoes Interview in the Final Evaluation of the Top 5 Faculties in the University of Indonesia’s Zona Integritas Competition

On Monday (August 12), the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI), underwent an interview as part of the final evaluation of the top 5 faculties in the Zona Integritas (ZI) Competition. This online interview was conducted by the Diktiristek jury team and the TREM UI bureau team. FTUI was represented by the Acting Dean, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., and the FTUI ZI team.

“We observed many dynamics at each university and selected the best practices. The goal is to win WBK (Corruption-Free Zone) and WBBM (Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Zone) and establish a positive work culture. We hope that the Zona Integritas Program can foster better governance in higher education institutions in Indonesia,” said Adi Sulistyo, a representative of Diktiristek, in his opening remarks.

Prof. Mahmud presented on the development of Zona Integritas at FTUI. He explained that FTUI began its Zona Integritas journey in 2022, when Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng, IPU, took office. In 2023, FTUI achieved 4th place at the UI level. In 2024, FTUI is once again participating in the ZI competition with hopes of achieving an even higher ranking.

“The Dean of FTUI shared his vision of making FTUI an excellent and competitive engineering institution at both the national and global levels. This is being pursued through three main strategies: Empowering Engineering Entrepreneurship, Impactful Research and Innovation, and Modernization of Engineering Education,” explained Prof. Mahmud.

After Prof. Mahmud highlighted FTUI’s strengths, Prof. Harinaldi, Head of the Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit, continued by elaborating on FTUI’s efforts. He explained that since FTUI was designated as a Zona Integritas, it has initiated various activities aimed at realizing Zona Integritas, from socialization to reinforcing these activities according to the guidelines received. Since joining ZI, FTUI has carried out numerous activities, including Konsinyering, Dean Meets Lecturers, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with role models and change agents.

“With the tagline ‘Excellence with Impact,’ in the context of Zona Integritas, it is interpreted as excellence in dedication to trustworthy and competent service. Improvements made in 2024 include the creation of an online complaint form accessible to all members of the FTUI academic community. We have also introduced various innovations, such as implementing an online form for issuing letters at the KPPM unit, PAF Online, and timely issuance of diplomas during graduation ceremonies,” added Prof. Harinaldi.

The event then proceeded to a Q&A session with representatives from Diktiristek. In addition to asking questions, they also provided suggestions for FTUI to further enhance the development of Zona Integritas at the faculty.

The Zona Integritas competition is part of the effort to establish WBK and WBBM at the University of Indonesia. The Zona Integritas and its associated areas of change are expected to benefit stakeholders, including students, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders.
