The Professional Engineer Program (PS-PPI), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), once again held the Professional Engineer Oath-Taking Ceremony, attended by 60 graduates for the Even Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The solemn event took place at the MRPQ Building Auditorium, FTUI (September 11), witnessed by the faculty leadership and representatives of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII).
Of the 60 graduates taking the oath, 44 came from the Regular track and 16 from the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) track. With this addition, PS-PPI FTUI has now produced a total of 433 Professional Engineers, consisting of 272 from the Regular track and 161 from the RPL track. This period’s academic achievements include 33 graduates with Summa Cum Laude honors, 19 with Cum Laude, and 8 with Very Satisfactory distinctions.
The ceremony began with a screening of the FTUI profile and a safety induction video, followed by the singing of Indonesia Raya, Hymne UI, and Hymne PII. Opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI, and Dr. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, MBA., IPU., Chairman of PII (via recorded video message). The graduation report was presented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, Head of the PS-PPI FTUI Program.
In his address, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized,
“This oath-taking ceremony is not merely a formality but a reminder that the engineering profession carries a great responsibility for the nation’s advancement. Today’s graduates have gone through a long journey to reach this point, and I hope they will continue to uphold integrity, professionalism, and engineering ethics. In line with this, the Faculty of Engineering is committed to implementing the Integrity Zone and preventing gratification by ensuring that all activities, including the oath-taking ceremony, are conducted transparently, cleanly, and with integrity. May FTUI’s new engineers make meaningful contributions in addressing global challenges, especially in sustainable development.”
The highlight of the event was the Professional Engineer Oath, led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Syopiansyah Jaya Putra, M.Sis., IPU., ASEAN Eng. from PII Central Board, and followed by all graduates. The ceremony also featured the symbolic conferral of medals and safety helmets to three graduate representatives: Ir. Setiatmoko Adi Prakoso, S.T., M.M., IPM; Ir. Abdurrahman Gafur, S.T.; and Ir. Patria Ufaira Aprina, S.Si., M.T.
The event concluded with a group photo session with FTUI and PII leaders, as well as the graduates, marking a significant milestone for the newly inaugurated engineers who are ready to serve and contribute to the nation’s progress.
