Flag-Raising Ceremony on August 17, 2024, at FTUI: Celebrating the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia (FTUI) held a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia (17/08). The event, which took place on the field in front of the FTUI Dean’s Building, was attended by faculty leadership, lecturers, administrative staff, and students from various study programs.

The ceremony began at 7:00 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB) with participants neatly assembled on the field. Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, acted as the ceremony inspector and led the proceedings with great solemnity. Following the hoisting of the Red and White flag accompanied by the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” all attendees observed a moment of silence to honour the heroes who fought for the nation’s independence.

In his address, Prof. Yanuar emphasized the importance of strengthening the spirit of nationalism and unity amid diversity. He also highlighted the significant responsibility of the FTUI academic community to contribute to Indonesia’s independence through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: Education, Research, and Community Service.

“This Independence Day is an opportune moment for us to reflect on what we have contributed to this nation. Our duties are not easy, but through the spirit of independence inherited from our heroes, we must continue to move forward, work hard, and commit to advancing the nation through education, research, and service,” said Prof. Yanuar.

The ceremony served as a moment for the entire FTUI academic community to remember the struggles of the nation’s heroes and to reinforce their commitment to safeguarding and advancing Indonesia in the future.
