The Electrical Engineering and Naval Architecture programs at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), have successfully obtained international accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). This accreditation is valid from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2027.
IABEE is an internationally recognized accreditation body acknowledged by the government, focusing on quality assurance in higher education for engineering, technology, applied sciences, informatics, and computing by global standards. This achievement reaffirms FTUI’s commitment to providing high-quality education that meets international benchmarks.
The accreditation evaluation process involved several stages, including document assessment and on-site visits conducted by IABEE assessors. The on-site evaluation for the Electrical Engineering Program was held on November 4, 2024. Meanwhile, no on-site review was conducted for the Naval Architecture Program, as per an agreement with IABEE, since no facilities required direct inspection, making a document-based evaluation sufficient. During the site visit, assessors reviewed the curriculum, learning process, laboratory facilities, and conducted interviews with faculty members, students, and alumni to ensure the quality of education aligns with international standards.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated that this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community. He added, “This accreditation proves that FTUI’s programs can compete globally and produce competent graduates.”
Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., emphasized that this accreditation further strengthens the international standing of FTUI’s Electrical Engineering program. “We continuously strive to enhance the quality of education and research to generate innovations that benefit society,” said Prof. Arief.
Meanwhile, Dr. Agus Sunjarianto Pamitran, S.T., M.Eng., Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, which oversees the Naval Architecture Program, stated that this accreditation recognizes the dedication and commitment to maintaining high educational standards. “We hope this achievement will open opportunities for collaborations with international institutions and enhance the competitiveness of our graduates,” said Dr. Agus.
The attainment of IABEE accreditation is expected to provide significant benefits for students, including international recognition of their education quality and broader career opportunities.
FTUI remains committed to continuously improving education and research quality while expanding collaborations with various domestic and international institutions to produce outstanding graduates who are prepared to face global challenges.
