The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), officially inaugurated its 33rd Smart Classroom (SCR) on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. This was made possible through a donation from the Regional Executive Board of Real Estate Indonesia (DPD REI) DKI Jakarta. The inauguration marks a strategic step for FTUI to strengthen its collaboration with the industry while supporting the enhancement of technology-based learning facilities.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the FTUI campus in Depok, was attended by FTUI leadership, representatives from Universitas Indonesia, and members of DPD REI DKI Jakarta. Dr. Ajib Setyo Arifin, S.T., M.T., Director of Operations, Facility Maintenance, and Asset Management, represented the Rector of UI. Also present were Arvin Fibrianto Iskandar, Chairman of DPD REI DKI Jakarta, and other board members.

In his speech, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation and gratitude to DPD REI DKI Jakarta for its contribution to higher education, particularly in the field of engineering. “This Smart Classroom is a tangible form of collaboration between education and industry. It is not merely a technologically equipped learning space but also a symbol of educational transformation,” he stated.

The newly inaugurated Smart Classroom is the 33rd of 84 classrooms at FTUI, spread across two campuses: 72 in the Depok campus and 12 in the Salemba campus. All SCRs are designed to support digital, collaborative, and flexible learning, aligning with FTUI’s vision of becoming a world-class faculty of engineering.

“With modern and adaptive learning spaces, we believe students will be more inspired to explore, innovate, and build global competencies,” added Prof. Kemas.

The inauguration of this SCR marks a shared commitment to creating a relevant and responsive educational ecosystem capable of addressing contemporary challenges. FTUI remains committed to fostering excellent learning environments that support the development of resilient, innovative graduates ready to compete on a global stage.
