FTUI and LPS Agree to Extend Support Contract for Collaboration with the University of Berkeley California

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) and the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) have agreed to extend their cooperation contract to support various academic and research activities at FTUI. This contract extension includes full support for the upcoming year’s visiting research collaboration program between FTUI and the University of Berkeley, California.

This support was conveyed by the Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Dr. Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Ph.D., during the FTUI-LPS discussion (22/05) attended by the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU. Both parties agreed that this support is a strategic step to enhance education and research quality in Indonesia and strengthen the existing international collaboration.

Prof. Heri Hermansyah expressed his appreciation for the continued support from LPS. “The collaboration with LPS has had a significantly positive impact on the Faculty of Engineering, UI. With this contract extension, we can continue to implement innovative programs and collaborate with one of the best universities in the world, the University of Berkeley, California,” he said. Meanwhile, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that LPS is committed to supporting higher education and research in Indonesia.

The Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between LPS and UI in March 2022 included a research grant collaboration implemented through the Scholars Engagement Program for Natural Resources-based Research and Innovation (SEP-NRRI), a collaborative program between FTUI and the University of California Berkeley. The SEP-NRRI was agreed to be carried out from April to December 2022.

Broadly, SEP-NRRI encompasses the Management Visit program, the Young Scholar Visiting Research program, and the Research Grant for Selected Topic program. Over the next year, the collaboration programs will continue to be enhanced, and LPS support will ensure that these programs run smoothly and achieve maximum results.

This collaboration is expected to produce significant innovations in engineering and technology and strengthen FTUI’s position as the best engineering faculty in Indonesia. With closer international collaboration, FTUI students and faculty will have the opportunity to learn and share knowledge with their counterparts at the University of Berkeley California, known for its excellence in engineering research and education.

This meeting marks a joint commitment between FTUI and LPS to continue contributing to the development of science and technology in Indonesia and to strengthen international cooperation networks that benefit both institutions and the broader community.
