When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, various medical devices such as ventilators and oxygen generators became rare items that were contested. Almost all countries protect their industries so that their products are prioritized for their domestic needs. Reflecting on this experience, the Indonesian government is determined that the national medical device industry will gradually be able to produce national needs by utilizing innovations that have been carried out by universities and national research institutions.
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), continues to move forward to promote the results of collaboration between universities, the government, and industrial partners for the advancement of science, research, and innovation that have an impact on society. One of the strategies implemented by FTUI is the reverse engineering of various health products. This activity complements various research in the field of health products conducted by FTUI lecturers, researchers, and students.
This opportunity to develop innovative products has become the basis for cooperation between FTUI and PT. Inspiry Indonesia Consultants. Taking place at the FTUI Dean Building, the two parties signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) regarding the Development of Cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, and Industrial Partners. Also present at the event, was the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU. along with the FTUI management, President Commissioner of PT Inspiry Indonesia Konsultan, Asrul Sani Gunawan, President Director of PT Inspiry Indonesia Konsultan, Hartanto, S.E., M.M., representatives from PT Karya Medis Nusantara, PT Inovasi Medik Indonesia, PT Cobra Dental, PT Muara Sakti Utama, PT ESHBI Putra Indonesia, and PT Vijaya Gemilang Lestari.
“We can’t do everything on our own. FTUI has prepared dozens of innovative products in the health sector. We need help from friends in the health industry to carry out mass production and help commercialize FTUI’s products. Here PT. Inspiry enters as a bridge between FTUI and medical device companies. Hopefully the signing of the cooperation agreement this afternoon can further facilitate the achievement of Indonesia’s goal of having domestic health products that are qualified and able to compete with foreign products,” said Prof. Heri Hermansyah.
“Several FTUI Health innovation products have found partners for the commercialization process, such as Covent-20 products, Transport Ventilators, Flocked Swabs, Puvicon3/Plasmafan, and others. Currently what we are helping to carry out the collaboration process with manufacturing partners is the Portable Vaccine Carrier. Apart from that, innovative products such as toothpaste and propolis soap have also been successfully connected and will start the production process with PT ESBHI Putra Indonesia’s partners,” said Hartanto, S.E., M.M., President Director of PT Inspiry Indonesia Konsultan.
Based on the results of discussions between FTUI and PT. Inspiry, there are 60 superior products, the work of FTUI inventors that will open opportunities for collaboration with manufacturing partners and medical device distributors in Indonesia. FTUI’s innovative products include Liquid Propolis Soap, Transparent Propolis Soap, Facial Bone-Screw Implants, Facial Bone-Bone Plate Implants, Dry Spray Antioxidant Propolis, Dental, and Oral Health Propolis, Air Disinfection, Respiratory Sterilizers, Flolis, and many more.
