FTUI and PT United Tractors Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting on Educational Cooperation Achievements in the Professional Engineer Program (PPI)

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) continues demonstrating its commitment to bridging the academic and industrial worlds through a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) session in collaboration with PT United Tractors Tbk. The session took place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, to implement the regular track of the Professional Engineer Program (PPI), involving six FTUI students currently undertaking engineering practice within the United Tractors work environment. This activity served as a forum for discussion and evaluation, bringing together faculty and industry representatives to comprehensively review academic and professional achievements.

Representing FTUI were Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs; Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Manager of Partnership, Venture, and Entrepreneurship; and Prof. Dr. Ir. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, ST., M.Sc., IPU., Head of the Professional Engineer Program. From PT United Tractors, Mr. Ciptahadi Nugraha, Team Leader Expert for Knowledge & Infrastructure Management, and other expert team members attended.

During the academic performance presentation session, the students demonstrated outstanding performance in both technical competencies and professionalism. Their engineering practice reports covered various innovative and applicable topics in the heavy equipment and mining sectors. One of the students, Abdurrahman Gafur, presented an analysis comparing different types of coal mining fleets regarding safety and cost efficiency.

The students achieved high academic scores, with their first-semester grade point averages ranging from 3.80 to 4.00. In addition, they actively participated in various seminars and professional training sessions, such as the Global Application Engineer Training, Smart Construction, and workshops on electric vehicles and heavy equipment management systems.

The discussion session included curriculum evaluation, the effectiveness of engineering practice implementation, and feedback from the industry on the students’ contributions. PT United Tractors also provided suggestions to FTUI, including the need for flexibility in online learning—such as allowing students to turn off their cameras under certain conditions—and the importance of lecturers understanding the field challenges students face. They also recommended the establishment of an information hub for prospective student registration and a more efficient check-in-based attendance system. These suggestions were well received by FTUI and will be considered for future program improvements.

This Monev activity exemplifies the real synergy between higher education institutions and the industry in producing professional engineers who are competent, adaptable, and ready to face the challenges of the workforce. FTUI and PT United Tractors Tbk have shown that such collaborations can produce graduates who excel academically while also being practically attuned to industry needs.
