The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) at the Professors’ Lounge, FTUI Dean’s Building (25/02). This meeting aimed to strengthen the academic collaboration between the two institutions, including student exchange programs and research collaborations among academic staff. FTUI and TUM are updating the cooperation documents related to the student exchange program, which has been running since 2019.
During the visit, the TUM delegation was represented by Professor Walter Timo de Vries, Director of TUM’s Master & PhD Program in Land Management and Land Tenure and Dean of Studies of the Programs Geodesy and Geoinformatics. The FTUI delegation was represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc. (Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Dr. Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Manager of Partnerships and International Education), Dr. Ayomi Dita Rarasati, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (Head of Environmental Engineering Study Program), Dr. Sandyanto Adityosulindro, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., along with other FTUI lecturers, Dr.-Ing. Sucipta Laksono, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Mustika Sari, S.Ars., M.T.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in education and research. FTUI and TUM are discussing developing a dual degree program at the master’s and doctoral levels. The proposed scheme for the master’s program involves 1.5 years at FTUI followed by 0.5 years at TUM. Meanwhile, discussions are centred on a joint supervision scheme for the doctoral program to enhance the quality of doctoral research. In addition, FTUI also offered other potential collaborations, including short course programs and the establishment of research groups involving academics from both institutions.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, stated, “Since 2019, FTUI has been collaborating with TUM in a student exchange program. This collaboration has significantly benefited students from both institutions by broadening their academic horizons and international experience. We hope this partnership will continue to grow and expand in the future. In addition to maintaining the existing programs, FTUI is committed to expanding the scope of international collaboration with TUM. We hope to open up more collaborative opportunities across various study programs at FTUI to benefit more students and lecturers from this global academic network.”
The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the TUM delegation and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in enhancing the quality of education and research at FTUI. “FTUI is committed to continuously expanding its academic network with global partners, including TUM, which has an outstanding reputation in research. We aim to create more opportunities for students and lecturers through student exchange programs, dual degree programs, and research collaborations, fostering an academic environment that can compete on the global stage,” said Prof. Kemas.
This strengthened collaboration will further solidify the academic partnership between FTUI and TUM and open up more opportunities for students and lecturers to contribute internationally.
