The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from the Tokyo University of Agriculture & Technology (TUAT) at the Professor Council Room, FTUI Dean’s Building, on Wednesday (19/02). Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Partnerships and International Education, received the TUAT delegation, represented by Dr. Nobuhiro Nakamura, Dean of Engineering and Incoming Executive Vice-President.
“The student exchange program between FTUI and TUAT has been established for quite some time. However, since the last student exchange in 2019, the program has been on hold. This discussion aims to revive academic collaboration through various exchange and research schemes. The program is planned to commence in April 2026 and will run until June/July 2026,” said Dr. Andyka.
In a separate statement, FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed, “We believe that the synergy between FTUI and TUAT will not only enrich students’ learning experiences but also open opportunities for industry collaboration. By combining academic exchange and industrial internships, students will gain more relevant skills and be better prepared to face an increasingly competitive job market.”
The discussion in this meeting covered student exchange programs and short-term programs, including regular student exchange schemes, research internships, and scholarship opportunities from JASSO and LPDP.
Key takeaways from the meeting included the Short-term Program offered by TUAT through the AIMS & U to U exchange program, Research Internships to be conducted until mid-February with further arrangements, Exchange Programs for regular students available only for the even semesters (6th and 8th semesters), as well as TUAT’s plan to apply for JASSO scholarships for 2026, which require programs to last more than three weeks. Master’s and PhD students can also apply for research programs supported by LPDP.
