FTUI, HDII Jakarta, and Mowilex Invite Eight Leading Jakarta Campuses to Inter:Act 2025 Campus Series

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), in collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Interior Designers Jakarta (HDII Jakarta) and Mowilex, held an event titled Show Your Colour, Shape Your Space. This activity is part of the Inter:Act 2025 Campus Series organized by Mowilex. Inviting students from seven other prominent universities—Gunadarma University, Mercu Buana University, Trisakti University, Tarumanagara University, Jakarta Institute of the Arts, Bina Nusantara University, and Unggul University—the event took place at FTUI Depok, IDE Building, on Tuesday (25/11).

Initiated by the HDII Jakarta Education Division, this event served as a student-sharing session aimed at strengthening collaboration between lecturers and students of Architecture/Interior Design programs across the Jakarta metropolitan area. HDII Jakarta hopes that students and lecturers in these fields can exchange knowledge while reinforcing partnerships between universities and the organization.

In a separate statement, FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for this cross-institutional collaboration.

“FTUI warmly welcomes activities that encourage creativity and collaboration across campuses. The design world is evolving rapidly, and events like this create space for dialogue and exploration that enrich students’ perspectives. We hope the collaboration among FTUI, HDII, and Mowilex continues to grow, providing learning opportunities that align with industry needs and developments in the design discipline,” Prof. Kemas stated.

“Thank you to the eight campuses in Jakarta that joined this event. We also thank Mowilex for partnering with us in organizing this program. Today, we explore how design and color shape our awareness of the environment. We hope this event benefits us all,” said Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc., GP, IPU, Head of the Department of Architecture FTUI, in her opening remarks.

During the sharing session, Coriesta Dian Sulistiani, S.Ars., M.Ars., a lecturer at the Department of Architecture FTUI, served as moderator and invited two speakers: Tri Hikmawati, Founder & Design Director at TMS Creative, and Dani Julpani Mauludin, Product Specialist at Mowilex. In her presentation, Tri discussed color and how it influences spatial perception. Meanwhile, Dani introduced various Mowilex products, particularly those used by industry professionals.

“Color is a manifestation of personal expression,” Tri stated. She explained that color serves two functions: as an element and as a language. As an element, it shapes the appearance, atmosphere, ambience, and function of a space. As a language, color conveys meaning and evokes emotional responses.

Next, Puti Amira Roeslan, a student from FTUI’s Interior Architecture program, presented her design studio project titled Immersive Museum. Puti explained that the studio aims to produce museum interior designs that are engaging, educational, and rooted in historical and cultural contexts. The studio challenges the conventional understanding of museums and reinterprets them as spaces where history, creative narratives, user experience, and technology merge to create environments that are architecturally inspiring and socially responsive.

Kevia Analicia Khowira, an Interior Design student from Tarumanagara University, also presented her project. Her work, titled West Kalimantan Cultural Center, showcased how thematic and interactive spatial design—combining education with hands-on experiences and exploring the color identity of West Kalimantan—can enhance public understanding of culture.

During the workshop session, students were divided into eight groups, each consisting of participants from different campuses. They were tasked with collaborating to create moodboards based on their design ideas. Group number 3 was selected as the winner after showcasing a design concept that emphasized comfort while maintaining an appealing and vibrant family room atmosphere.
