As part of its commitment to enhancing collaboration between academia and industry, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), strengthens its partnership with PT Pertamina (Persero) through the development of the Biofuel Laboratory, located on the 8th floor of the IDE Building, FTUI. A coordination meeting was held on Wednesday (October 1) at the FTUI Board of Professors Meeting Room, Dean’s Building, to discuss the progress of facility development and follow-up steps leading to the inauguration of the laboratory in October 2025.
Representing Pertamina, Mr. Rudi Ariffianto emphasized that the main purpose of the visit was to monitor the progress of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program implemented in collaboration with FTUI. Pertamina expressed its appreciation for FTUI’s commitment to maintaining progress according to schedule and highlighted the importance of timely project completion. He also mentioned that the completion of the Biofuel Laboratory in October would serve as a special gift for Pertamina’s anniversary in December 2025.
In his report, Dr. Ibnu stated that all laboratory furniture had been installed and that most of the main equipment had been received and was currently undergoing final inspection. The FTUI team also conducts weekly monitoring to ensure the readiness of the facility ahead of the inauguration.
Additionally, Pertamina underscored the importance of collaboration with universities in public education and human resource development in the energy sector. This partnership is expected not only to strengthen research but also to enhance Pertamina’s image as a national energy company committed to sustainability.
The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., stated that the partnership between FTUI and Pertamina exemplifies a concrete synergy between academia and industry in driving national energy innovation. “This collaboration represents FTUI’s commitment to producing research that creates real impact for society and industry. Through the Biofuel Laboratory, we aim to contribute to the advancement of renewable energy technologies while reinforcing the role of universities as strategic partners for industry,” said Prof. Kemas.
The Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, also reaffirmed FTUI’s support for Pertamina’s efforts in strengthening national energy research.
“FTUI is fully committed to supporting Pertamina. A strong industry cannot thrive without a strong academic foundation, and this collaboration is key to achieving sustainable national economic growth,” stated Dr. Dalhar.
The meeting was attended by representatives from both institutions. From Pertamina: Rudi Ariffianto, VP CSR & SMEPP Management, and Lilik Hardiyanto, Assistant Manager CSR. From FTUI: Dr.-Ing. Ir. This collaboration stands as tangible proof of FTUI’s role in strengthening Indonesia’s research and innovation ecosystem, while also reflecting Pertamina’s commitment to advancing science and technology in the field of new and renewable energy.
