FTUI and PT Wira Cipta Prepare Collaboration to Facilitate Engineering Internships and Graduate Recruitment

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) is opening opportunities for strategic collaboration with PT Wira, a service provider company supporting the oil and gas sector specializing in manpower services, equipment rental, and engineering. The meeting, held on Monday (October 6) at the FTUI Dean’s Meeting Room, discussed potential collaboration in student internship programs and engineering workforce recruitment to support the needs of the national energy industry.

During the meeting, representatives from PT Wira stated that the company is ready to facilitate FTUI students who wish to undertake internships aligned with their respective engineering disciplines. The internship program will be scheduled during the semester break, from April to August 2025, to ensure it does not interfere with students’ academic activities. “We are ready to accommodate FTUI students who wish to take part in engineering internships. If needed, we also offer potential employment opportunities for graduates upon completing the internship program,” said the PT Wira representative.

Established in 2009, PT Wira has been involved in various projects with major companies such as Medco and PHR, focusing on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Services and K3S (Oil and Gas Cooperation Contracting). In these projects, students may be assigned to different locations depending on operational requirements. PT Wira also provides accommodation for interns placed outside the city.

In terms of qualifications, PT Wira prioritizes final-year students who possess sufficient academic and technical readiness to engage in industrial projects. The minimum internship duration is one month, with the number of participants adjusted to project needs. Currently, the company employs 68 structural staff members and has 12 active interns.

In addition to the internship program, PT Wira is also open to further collaboration in professional education and research, including the Professional Engineer Program as well as master’s and doctoral programs (by research or by course).

During the discussion session, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Manager of Collaboration, Ventures, and Entrepreneurship at FTUI, emphasized that this partnership with PT Wira would bring significant benefits to students. “PT Wira can serve as a strategic partner for FTUI in bridging students with the industrial sector through internship programs, outreach activities, and campus recruitment events. The FTUI Ventures Unit is ready to collaborate to implement this partnership,” said Dr. Sahlan.

Through this planned collaboration, FTUI and PT Wira aim to strengthen academic–industry relations while preparing competent engineering human resources who are ready to face the challenges of the future energy sector.
