The Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress returned in 2024, held in Bangkok, Thailand from June 10-13. This congress, organized by the THE ranking institution, brings together global leaders and innovators to discuss urgent solutions to sustainability issues to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event was attended by no less than 3,000 delegates and 350 expert speakers who presented various interesting topics and provided a forum for discussion for all participants. Additionally, THE announced the THE Impact Rankings 2024 at the event. In these rankings, the University of Indonesia achieved a world ranking of 31, 6th in Asia, 3rd in Southeast Asia, and remained the best in Indonesia.
The University of Indonesia delegation, represented by the Head of the Bureau of Transformation, Risk Management, and Monitoring Evaluation (TREM UI), Mr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D., along with staff, participated in this congress. Meanwhile, FTUI sent the Head of the FTUI International Office, Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC., the Head of the Environmental Engineering Study Program, Dr. Cindy Rianti Priadi, ST., M.Sc., International Office staff member Siti N. Winduningtyas, and Public Communication Office staff member Muhbadi.
“FTUI participated in this event with the specific mission to expand cooperation networks with several universities globally itodevelop the internationalization of education at FTUI. This event is the perfect platform to establish communication to open up opportunities for educational and research collaboration with various universities worldwide. On this occasion, FTUI established communication and discussions with several universities: TU Dresden, University of Adelaide, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Baptist University,” explained Fadhilah Muslim.
From the discussions, TU Dresden opened opportunities for cooperation in student exchange mobility programs and a fee-paying study abroad program scheme for FTUI KKI program students. The University of Adelaide followed up on previous meetings regarding plans for collaboration on a dual degree 2+2 program, student exchange programs, and fee-paying study abroad. Meanwhile, CUHK and HKBU also welcomed and opened opportunities for cooperation in mobility programs under a fee-paying study abroad scheme and research collaboration.
