FTUI Supports Staff in Preparing for Retirement through an Interactive Training Program in Bandung

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), organized the 2025 Pre-Retirement Preparation Training (MPP) specifically for educational support staff (tendik) who are approaching retirement. The three-day program, held from September 4–6, 2025, in Bandung, was attended by 16 participants along with their spouses, aiming to equip them with the knowledge and mindset to embrace retirement with happiness, health, and productivity.

The first day of the training featured motivational and preparatory sessions covering topics such as the transformation process during retirement, managing post-power syndrome, and the importance of building a positive self-concept. The keynote speaker, Dr. H. Fauzan Asmara, S.Psi., M.Psi., MBA., shared insights on how to experience a meaningful and prosperous retirement. Participants also received sessions on financial management and entrepreneurship opportunities, including digital marketing strategies delivered by Didik Arwinsyah.

On the second day, participants took part in a hands-on workshop on making batagor (a popular Indonesian snack) in collaboration with Batagor Yoels. The session was designed to be relaxed and interactive, encouraging creativity and engagement in daily life. In the afternoon, the group visited a hydroponic farm in Bandung, where they learned about modern farming practices and received hydroponics training that could serve as an inspiration for productive post-retirement activities.

The third day concluded with sessions on reflection, second-career planning, and skills development to remain active and contributive in society. Through this series of activities, FTUI strives to ensure that retirement is not seen as the end of service, but rather as the beginning of a new, meaningful, and impactful chapter in life.

In his remarks, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI, emphasized that retirement is a moment to discover new roles within the family and the community.

“Retirement marks the beginning of a meaningful new chapter. FTUI hopes that our staff will experience this phase in good health, happiness, and prosperity,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc., GP, IPU., FTUI’s Human Resources Manager, added that this training was designed not only to provide theoretical preparation but also practical experiences, ranging from household and entrepreneurial skills to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Through this program, FTUI reaffirms its commitment to honoring and supporting educational staff entering retirement. With the new knowledge, experiences, and skills gained, participants are expected to approach their retirement years with confidence, purpose, and continued positive contributions to their communities.
