On Monday (20/12), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan at the Senate Meeting Room, FTUI. Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is a subsidiary of Indonesia’s largest energy company, Pertamina (Persero), engaged in the upstream oil and gas business under the Upstream Subholding, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE). This visit was conducted to explore educational and research collaborations.
“We welcome the presence of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan to initiate collaboration with FTUI in education and research. We hope that this collaboration can result in mutual benefits for both parties and have a positive impact on each side,” expressed FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU.
During the discussion, Mr. Azumar Ridwan, a representative from PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, elaborated on the “Goes to Campus” program. This program serves as a platform for PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan to reconnect with places where knowledge was acquired, contributing to FTUI.
“We also offer collaboration in the form of internships for students, and credit-earning programs to support the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. Additionally, efforts to enhance the quality of teaching staff can be achieved through the acceleration of educational tridharma, such as practitioner teaching programs, joint research, and the involvement of lecturers in solving technical issues,” said Azumar.
In line with FTUI’s mission to produce highly intellectual engineering graduates capable of global competitiveness, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan employees have the opportunity to pursue double-degree S2 or S3 programs at FTUI. This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality of education and improve the competence of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan employees. Furthermore, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan offers collaboration programs where their human resources can serve as guest lecturers or speakers in FTUI, assisting in learning and teaching facilities and research.
Following the discussion, both FTUI and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan agreed to refine and actualize the discussed collaboration programs. The next step involves drafting and approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The collaboration between FTUI and PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan is anticipated to strengthen the connection between the industrial and academic worlds, supporting the development of high-quality human resources capable of meeting industry needs.
