The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), marked an important step in its efforts to expand educational partnerships by welcoming 44 new students from five partner institutions in the collaborative class program for the 2024/2025 academic year on Monday (9/9). The event at the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room, Dean’s Building 1st Floor, FTUI, also saw the send-off of the 2023 batch of S2 Civil Engineering double degree students to the University of Leeds.
FTUI’s collaborative class program this year involves five companies and institutions committed to strengthening Indonesia’s human resource competencies. The participating students will pursue master’s, doctoral, and professional engineering degrees. The cohort includes 10 students from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, 10 from the Traffic Corps of the National Police, 10 from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, 6 from PT United Tractors Tbk., 1 from PT SUCOFINDO, and 7 students admitted through the recognition of prior learning (RPL) pathway in this program.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, expressed his hopes that the students will successfully pursue their studies, emphasizing that the Faculty of Engineering UI boasts expert lecturers in their respective fields. He also encouraged productive interactions among students from different institutions and backgrounds. “We hope this collaboration will produce high-quality graduates who make significant contributions to their respective institutions and companies,” he said during his remarks.
Representatives from each partner institution were also present and shared positive messages and hopes. They highlighted the importance of this educational collaboration in producing intelligent and outstanding human resources who can achieve success for themselves, the companies and industries they represent, and the nation as a whole.
Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Acting Dean of FTUI, stated, “Welcome to the Double Degree S2 Civil Engineering students from FTUI and the University of Leeds. This program is a golden opportunity for you to gain deeper knowledge and broaden your international perspectives. You will learn from the best at two leading institutions, with the hope that one day you can contribute to addressing global infrastructure challenges. We are proud to see you embark on this journey, and we are confident that the experiences you gain will be invaluable for your future professional careers.”
Partner institution representatives who attended the event included Mr. Ibnu Romadhona, S.T., M.Sc., Head of the Planning Division at the Human Resources Development Center for Apparatus of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia; AKBP Hendra Wahyudi, S.E., M.M. Tr., Head of Human Resources Subdivision at Korlantas Polri; Mr. Marbun, Head of the Human Resources Division at PT SUCOFINDO; and Mrs. Eyla Alivia Maranny, Head of the Working Team for Domestic and Foreign S2 Scholarship Programs at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
Following the speeches, representatives from the partners symbolically dressed the collaborative class students in the iconic UI Yellow Jacket. The event then continued with a briefing for the 2023 batch of S2 Civil Engineering double degree students bound for the University of Leeds, delivered by Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Secretary of the Department of Civil Engineering. Afterwards, Mr. Dendy Hardian, representing the students, gave a departure preparation report, followed by the symbolic presentation of the Letters of Acceptance (LoA) to the double degree S2 Civil Engineering students by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M. Eng.
The event concluded with a group photo of all participants, marking a significant step in the development of educational partnerships between FTUI and various partner institutions. This event reflects the progress made in strengthening collaboration and integration between educational institutions and the industrial sector, reaffirming a shared commitment to achieving educational goals and developing superior human resources.
