FTUI Gives Adjunct Professor Title to Prof. Kazuhiko Hara, Optoelectronics Expert from Shizuoka University

Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (DTE FTUI), awarded the title of Adjunct Professor to Prof. Kazuhiko Hara, an Optoelectronics expert from Shizuoka University. The Conferment Ceremony was held in conjunction with the International National Conference on Nano Electronics Research and Education Faraday Turing Schmitt International Conference (ICNERE FTS-IC) 2023 at Laprima Hotel, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

Adjunct Professor is an honorary title given to someone from another institution thanks to quality and significant contributions in various academic and non-academic fields. For DTE FTUI, the title of Adjunct Professor was given to Prof. Hara thanks to the contribution and development of research collaborations that have an impact on DTE FTUI.

Prof. Hara has an excellent research track record. This is evidenced by his dedication and contributions in the field of optoelectronics which have been recognized and awarded with prestigious awards, including Research Achievement Awards from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2000, APEX/JJAP Editorial Contributions, Awards from The Japan Society of Applied Physics in 2009, and the 2019 Boris L. Rozing Prize Euro.

Prof. Hara, who is currently the Dean of the Graduate School of Medical Photonics at Shizuoka University, has expertise in the field of Optoelectronics. In his research on Optoelectronics, Prof. Hara focuses on thin film development and novel functional characterizations for UV to optoelectronics. Prof. Hara is also involved in research on new phosphor synthesis for displays and lighting devices.

The close relationship between Shizuoka University and FTUI has been built for a long time, such as collaboration in the field of education and especially in terms of research collaboration between FTUI and Shizuoka University by holding an annual international conference called the International National Conference on Nano Electronics Research and Education (ICNERE), which has been carried out since 2012. This conference serves as a publication platform for research results and in-depth research in the fields of electrical engineering, computer engineering, and biomedical engineering.

At this year’s international conference, Prof. Hara became a keynote speaker by discussing his field of expertise, namely Optoelectronics, with the title “Low-pressure CVD of hexagonal BN films for application to DUV light emitters”. Research in this field is superior research that can be the spirit of the emergence of other research from DTE FTUI for the advancement of the field of Technology.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, said “The awarding of the honorary title of Adjunct Professor to one of the Professors of Shizuoka University, Prof. Kazuhiko Hara is a form of FTUI’s commitment in appreciating Prof. Hara’s impactful contribution to DTE FTUI.”

The awarding of the Adjunct Professor title is expected to be a trigger to continue to improve academic quality and world-class research that has a superior impact on the advancement of future technology.
