FTUI Holds Emergency Response Simulation and Fire Extinguisher Testing

On Thursday (10/10), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), conducted an emergency response simulation and fire extinguisher (APAR) testing at the FTUI i-Cell Building. This activity reflects FTUI’s commitment to the implementation of ISO 45001, related to managing occupational health and safety (OHS) risks to improve employee health and safety, as well as to protect company assets.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Winarto, M.Sc., Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit, stated, “As part of the efforts to mitigate emergencies, FTUI’s Emergency Response Team organized employee evacuation training and fire drills through an emergency response simulation. This event, held at least once a year, aims to educate all FTUI staff on how to handle potential emergencies in the workplace that could endanger lives, property, and company assets in a coordinated manner, reducing or preventing possible losses.”

The simulation was coordinated by Santoso Jokowaluyo, S.T., the OHS Coordinator at FTUI, involving the FTUI Interdisciplinary Engineering Department’s OHS team, administrative staff, lecturers, and students. The emergency scenario began with evacuating everyone from the FTUI i-Cell Building to a safe area outside in an orderly manner. The event continued with a hands-on training session on using fire extinguishers (APAR), where participants had the opportunity to practice effectively handling small fires.

“I would like to thank the entire academic community involved in this Emergency Response Simulation and APAR Testing. Today’s simulation is expected to provide a realistic understanding of effective emergency response procedures and the operation of fire extinguishers in fire situations. I want to emphasize the importance of understanding and skills in emergency response so that each individual knows what to do when facing emergency conditions,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.
