FTUI Holds Walimatus Safar for 4 Prospective Hajj Pilgrims from FTUI 1445 H

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), organized a Walimatus Safar (Hajj Farewell and Thanksgiving) event for FTUI faculty and staff who will perform the Hajj pilgrimage in 1445 Hijriah. This event was held on Monday (03/06) in the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room, FTUI, and was attended by several academic community members who came to offer support and prayers for the prospective Hajj pilgrims.

The Walimatus Safar event featured various activities, including speeches, presentation of souvenirs, farewell messages from the prospective Hajj pilgrims, a brief sermon, joint prayers, and expressions of gratitude and congratulations to those embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage. The event was attended by three professors who will perform Hajj this year: Prof. Yandi Andri Yatmo, S.T., M.Arch., Ph.D.; Prof. Paramita Atmodiwirjo, S.T., M.Arch., Ph.D.; and Dr. Wisnu Isvara, S.T., M.T. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Mochamad Chalid, S.Si., M.Sc.Eng. had already departed to perform the Hajj pilgrimage earlier.

“Thank you to the prospective Hajj pilgrims who have accepted our invitation for today’s Walimatus Safar. I hope the prospective pilgrims find ease and smoothness in completing all the Hajj rituals. Of course, the faculty will do its utmost to support all academic needs that need to be completed before departure or while in the Holy Land,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, in his opening remarks.

The event continued with the presentation of souvenirs to the prospective pilgrims and a group photo session. On this occasion, Prof. Yandi, Prof. Paramita, and Dr. Wisnu shared some farewell messages before their departure. They expressed their gratitude and hope for ease and smoothness in performing the Hajj pilgrimage, as well as their thanks for the prayers and support from the entire FTUI community.

Following this, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Salman, S.T., M.I.T. delivered a brief sermon and led joint prayers. He presented a sermon on the theme ‘Before, During, and After the Hajj Journey’. He emphasized that Hajj is not about waiting for a call, as that call has existed since the time of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), and it is about how individuals respond to it. Every Muslim should have the desire to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in response to Allah’s call.

“After making many prayers and showing a desire to Allah, it must be followed by efforts. Once Allah enables us to fulfil the invitation, we should become humble guests. Depart with full humility and submission, so that our hearts are always filled with goodness. Essentially, Hajj is not only about a series of rituals but also a moment for us to retrace the steps of Allah’s chosen people and understand the significant historical events of Islam that occurred there,” said Dr. Salman.

The Walimatus Safar event concluded with expressions of gratitude and congratulations from staff and faculty to Prof. Yandi, Prof. Paramitha, and Dr. Wisnu. With great joy, FTUI sent off the prospective Hajj pilgrims with prayers for a smooth and blessed pilgrimage.

On a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said, “This Walimatus Safar event is a form of care and solidarity from the FTUI academic community in supporting our faculty and staff who will perform the Hajj pilgrimage. May the prospective pilgrims be granted ease and smoothness in fulfilling their pilgrimage in the Holy Land and return home with a mabrur (accepted) Hajj.”
