FTUI Hosts Taiwan Semiconductor Job and Study Fair 2024

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), through its Career Development Center (CDC FTUI), organized the 2024 Taiwan Semiconductor Job and Study Fair. This event aimed to provide information and opportunities for young talents, especially from FTUI, to learn about various job prospects in the semiconductor industry. Additionally, the event aimed to inform about various advanced study opportunities at leading universities in Taiwan.

Held on May 30, 2024, the event was attended by representatives from FTUI and the event organizers. From FTUI, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni, and Tikka Anggraeni, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR, Special Staff for Public Communication and General Administration, were present. The organizers, Frank Lu, Director of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, and Lily Chen, Planner at the Intelligent Electronics Institute of the Industrial Development Administration, attended the event.

In his opening remarks, Dalhar Susanto stated, “We are very pleased to welcome you (the attendees from Taiwan) here today at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. This event marks a significant opportunity for students, alumni, and professionals interested in the semiconductor industry to connect with renowned companies and universities from Taiwan. I am delighted to announce that this is our second event with Taiwan Semiconductor. Last year, many of our students and alumni received job and scholarship offers, marking this event as a milestone in their academic and professional journeys. The positive impact of the previous fair has motivated us to continue this initiative and expand opportunities for more participants.”

Frank Lu also delivered his remarks, “I thank FTUI for hosting this event. It is an honour for me to share knowledge here. As we know, Taiwan plays an important role in the semiconductor ecosystem supply chain and has competent semiconductor experts. With today’s recruitment, I hope participants from Indonesia can work or study in Taiwan. We hope to find many of Indonesia’s best talents at this event, so Indonesia will have the best semiconductor experts in the future.”

The event, held in the Smart Meeting Room of the FTUI Dean’s Building, began with seminars on career development and working mechanisms in Taiwan. This was followed by sessions introducing Taiwanese universities offering scholarship programs and further study opportunities.

The event continued with face-to-face interviews with various companies and universities from Taiwan at the Lobby of Building K, FTUI. Leading semiconductor companies and universities from Taiwan participated in these sessions.

Helen and Juliandri, Electrical Engineering alumni from the class of ’19, shared their experiences at the event, stating that the Taiwan Semiconductor Job and Study Fair helped them secure jobs abroad. Juliandri added that the event provided him with new networks and knowledge about companies and universities from Taiwan.

“For students and job seekers, this fair is more than just an event; it is a gateway to exciting opportunities. It offers the chance to engage with leading companies in the semiconductor industry and explore your career in this field. Once again, thank you to Frank Lu and Lily Chen for their support. I also want to thank all the participants and organizers who made this event possible. Let’s make the most of this opportunity to learn, connect, and grow,” said FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.

The companies and universities participating in this event included: Ardentec ASE, ELAN, Innolux, Micron, and USI. The participating universities were National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST).

This collaboration opens up career and study opportunities for participants. Additionally, it strengthens the cooperation between FTUI and Taiwan in the fields of employment and education. FTUI hopes that this event will provide valuable insights to participants, helping them better understand the semiconductor industry and plan their careers or further studies according to their interests and goals.
