The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering modern, globally standardized education. On Monday (September 22), FTUI held a meeting with representatives from Wiley, a leading global publishing and digital learning solutions provider, at the FTUI Professors’ Meeting Room.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., FTUI’s Manager of Education, along with the Wiley team. The discussion centered on utilizing digital learning platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) support to improve the teaching and learning experience at FTUI.
During the session, the Wiley team presented various services that can be integrated with Universitas Indonesia’s Learning Management System (LMS). Currently, FTUI utilizes the LMS to distribute assignments and learning materials, but e-book adoption remains limited. Wiley offered solutions through its digital learning platform and website, which provide a comprehensive collection of e-books in both Indonesian and English, particularly in engineering fields.
Notably, the Wiley platform is equipped with AI features designed to help lecturers automatically create syllabi, quizzes, learning videos, and material summaries. Other advantages include online assignment submission and material uploads to support remote learning, an AI reference feature similar to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity—but with responses sourced exclusively from Wiley’s official book and journal collections—and an automated syllabus generator that can be transformed into learning videos, quizzes, and course modules.
Students also benefit from the platform, as it enables them to access verified references, purchase books or journals, and utilize integrated AI tools to search for reliable academic sources.
FTUI Dean Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that this collaboration aligns with FTUI’s vision of becoming a world-class engineering faculty.
“Collaboration with Wiley is a strategic step for FTUI to strengthen its digital learning ecosystem. We see great potential in Wiley’s AI capabilities to support both lecturers and students in producing internationally competitive learning materials,” said Prof. Kemas.
This partnership is expected to mark the initial phase of Wiley platform trials for FTUI’s international programs, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to delivering modern, inclusive, and globally standardized education.
