FTUI Receives a Visit from the Indonesian Diaspora to Discuss Collaboration on Educational Modernization

The Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) received a visit from one of the Indonesian diaspora who is currently working in America. Rizal Fajar Hariadi is currently pursuing a career at Arizona State University, USA. The meeting with Rizal took place in the Academic Senate Meeting Room, 2nd Floor of the FTUI Dean’s Building, on Monday (10/7/23). One of the agenda items discussed was an ongoing academic collaboration to further enhance the internationalisation and modernization of FTUI’s education programmes.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU, revealed that FTUI is currently improving education internationalisation and modernization programmes with foreign partners that can have a positive impact on FTUI’s curriculum and students. “By collaborating with foreign partners, it is hoped that in the future it will be able to increase the reputation of FTUI as well as that of students. We open wide opportunities to collaborate with Arizona State University, especially with three departments at FTUI, namely the Department of Industrial Engineering, the Department of Architecture, and the Department of Chemical Engineering, to create a climate for graduates who can provide positive feedback for themselves and FTUI.”

From the results of this discussion, there will be follow-up regarding collaboration agreements and more in-depth discussions so that later this collaboration programme can be implemented and can become a study option for FTUI students to be able to continue their education at prestigious universities around the world.

Rizal Fajar Hariadi is also one of the founders of Exodigm Biosciences, a spin-off start-up based on the revolutionary genotyping technology developed at the BIONICS Lab. Currently, Rizal and his interdisciplinary team at Arizona State University are developing precision tools from the molecular to the centimetre scale for the bottom-up reconstruction of the mechanical systems involved in disease pathogenesis. Rizal is also the recipient of the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission New Investigator Award and the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award.
