On Tuesday (04/23), FTUI welcomed a visit from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) UI. The purpose of this visit was to compare international class programs at FTUI.
The visit was opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs. He said, “We are very pleased to share our knowledge with FKM. Previously, we also received visits from FEB and FISIP. FTUI itself has had an international class program for 25 years, so I hope we can answer any questions you may have.”
After the opening remarks, the event continued with explanations from Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Head of the Education Modernization, Planning, and Supervision Unit, and Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of the International Office. In general, they discussed the track record of FTUI’s international classes. They also discussed the concepts of double degree and joint degree, what needs to be prepared, and the probabilities that may arise during the program.
“Our initial goal was to build a reputation. Subsequently, this program became a promising source of revenue. Our current target is to expand our international network,” said Prof. Harinaldi.
Almost all study programs at FTUI already have international classes, except for Interior Architecture and Biomedical Engineering. Interior Architecture will have international classes starting next year. Prospective students can apply for these international class programs through Talent Scouting and Simak KKI.
“We may be confused by the terms double degree and joint degree. The difference between the two is that a double degree means students spend 50% (minimum) of their time at FTUI and 50% at a partner university with a different study program, while in a joint degree program, the study program taken by FTUI students is the same as the one taken at the partner university,” explained Fadhilah.
Faculties wishing to open international classes are expected to have partner universities first. Subsequently, a faculty-level meeting is held. The list of requirements to be submitted to the rectorate is the same as the requirements for opening a new study program.
FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., said, “We warmly welcome the visit from FKM. As faculties under the umbrella of Universitas Indonesia, we want to progress together. We hope FKM will soon open international classes.”
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng.; Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC; and Siti Nurandini Winduningtyas, S.IP. Meanwhile, representatives from FKM included Dr. Robiana Modjo, SKM, M.Kes, Chair of the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program; Dr. rer. med. Putri Bungsu, M. Epid, Secretary of the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program; Amalia Kuswarjanti, S.K.M., Education Coordinator; and Tria Rahmawati, S.K.L., Secretary of the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program.
