The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) held the Faculty Academic System Orientation (PSAF) at Balairung UI on August 13, 2025. The event marked an important moment for 2,790 new FTUI students, consisting of 1,929 undergraduate students (regular and international programs) and 861 postgraduate students (master’s, doctoral, and professional programs). PSAF is designed to provide new students with a comprehensive understanding of FTUI’s academic system and to serve as the starting point of their academic journey.
The event began with welcoming remarks from FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., who also introduced the current faculty and departmental management for the 2022–2026 period. In his address, Prof. Kemas emphasized the importance of student readiness in facing a new phase of life in higher education.
“What you are facing now is only the beginning. Campus life is very different from high school—you are expected to be more independent, collaborative, and responsible for shaping your own future. FTUI will provide you with the tools, but independence and teamwork with your peers will be the true keys to success,” said Prof. Kemas.
This year’s PSAF featured a two-session talk show. In the first session, students received an introduction to student affairs presented by Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager for Student Affairs and Alumni. The following presentation was delivered by Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., Manager for Education, who explained the roles, responsibilities, policies, and academic services provided by FTUI.
In the second session, students learned about international education opportunities through a presentation by Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager for Partnership and International Education. The session concluded with remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA, Head of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Research Unit, who spoke about the importance of research and innovation across disciplines at FTUI.
Before PSAF, the Campus Adaptation Program (MADK) was held by the FTUI Student Executive Board (BEM FTUI) through its Relations unit. MADK served as a platform for new students to get to know the social environment, foster initiative, and build integrity as university students. The program also introduced students to the role of higher education in realizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and instilling the core values of engineering.
The MADK program ran for three days, from August 13 to 15, 2025, covering both faculty- and department-level orientations. During the sessions, students received information on the academic system, mentorship from student associations, and guidance from the Advocacy and Student Welfare (Adkesma) teams of each department.
Through PSAF, new students were not only introduced to FTUI’s academic systems and learning culture but also encouraged to develop a sense of pride and belonging as part of the FTUI community. This program serves as a vital foundation for shaping FTUI students to become Excellent, Victorious, Empowered, and Cultured individuals—ready to face the dynamic academic and social life of the university.
