The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), through its Human Resources Unit, organized an English Conversation Workshop for administrative staff. Starting on Tuesday (August 26), the program runs for seven days — four days of training at FTUI and three days at the International Language Institute (LBI) UI. A total of 20 administrative staff members from various units within FTUI enthusiastically participated in the workshop.
In her opening remarks, FTUI Human Resources Manager, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ova Candra Dewi, S.T., M.Sc., GP, IPU, stated that this program reflects FTUI’s commitment to enhancing the English language proficiency of its administrative staff to better support academic and administrative services. “The ability to communicate in English is one of the essential skills in today’s era of globalization, especially in an ever-evolving academic environment. We hope that through this training, participants will become more confident and skilled in both everyday and formal conversations,” said Dr. Ova.
The workshop featured professional instructor Mrs. Airin Hutabarat, who delivered interactive and practical learning sessions. The teaching approach emphasized conversational practice, allowing participants to immediately apply their speaking skills in various contexts — both formal and informal.
Beyond improving English proficiency, this workshop also served as a platform to boost the confidence of FTUI’s administrative staff in providing services to students, the public, and international partners.
Through this initiative, FTUI aims to further enhance the quality of services within the faculty, in line with its vision of becoming a distinguished, accomplished, empowered, and cultured Faculty of Engineering.
